get some dermapest spray i think is what its called. it temporarily numbs the area when you spray it. i used it all the time.
also like smjmekg said percocet. id call tell them it tore open and need some. my ob gave me percocets after i had already been sent home. and dont take them unless you really need them because you'll need to save them. i still have 2 left im saving for a time when i really need it.

Episiotomy pains just have to run it's course. I had a 2nd degree tear and episiotomy. I couldn't sit, walk, sleep, stand for almost 2 1/2 wks. Did the hospital give you the "Sitz bath"? Try to make time to sit on a Sitz bath with Epsom salts for at least 20mints. That really helps in healing the cuts. Also my nurse advised me to keep the area dry as much as possible. She told me to use a blow dryer to dry after I wash. As crazy as it souds it really feels great.
Even after 3months my episiotomy's still sore. I hear they just take time to 100% to get back to normal.
Good luck on your recovery and Congrats on your baby!!!

oh i forgot to mention the sitz baths...definitely look into it.

and ask for something for the pain. they gave me morphine in the hospital when i tore with Kahlan but then sent me home with nothing...but I had some dilauded left over from my kidney stones and took that (had to pump and dump with the breastmilk) otherwise I would not have survived...it was 5 1/2 wks of agony.
my OB this time told me that if I were to tear he would DEFINITELY send me home with pain meds...and luckily I only got an episiotomy (tiny one) and he still gave me percocet....so not all docs are heartless!

Are you doing sitz baths with epson salt? It might help with the pain. Look it up if you aren't aware of them. A lot of midwives recommend them for healing of a tear or episiotomy.

Are you still nursing?  If not, you can take advil or aleve.  They are both stronger than tylenol, I have found.
I had a terrible tear with my first and it hurt for a weeks.  The best thing for it was taking a sitz bath.  They sent me home from the hospital with one.  Did they give you a sitz bath?  It's basically like a bed pan or something that you put on the toilet seat and use warm water and betadine for cleansing.  It was the only time I had relief from the terrible pain.  I'm not sure if it would be safe to use the bathtub as you don't want it to get infected, so if you use the bathtub, I would recommend making sure you cleanse the area really well before getting out with a very mild soap.  I also was given a squirt bottle for cleansing the area with both of my first two kids.  I filled it with warm water and that helped to relieve the pain for a short time.
Definetly call the doctor as well as they can either prescribe a sitz bath or something stronger for the pain.  I never recommend getting something from someone else as you could end up in a lot of trouble.  They gave me a prescription of percoset after I had my last baby and that helped a lot with the second one, although the tear wasn't as bad the second time.
I hope you get relief soon!  I know it hurts a lot!

What degree was your cut?  I had a 3rd degree(4 being the highest). and I couldnt sit, lay down or anything, barley walk, and all they gave me too was tylonel, I know it doesnt work, its crap, lol.. but i was in serious pain for about 4 weeks. sorry not what u wanna hear. but im still in pain, cause i broke my tail bone in labot, so i had alot of pain, it should ease up in a week or so, so u can walk and get stuff done, but if its anything like mine it will hurt for 4 or 5 weeks.  I know its illegal, but try finding someone that has something stronger u can take for pain, or maybe call your doctor(thats prolly ur best bet) lol

I think my episiotomy stopped hurting about 7days post-partum completely, but it was a small one...my tear hurt closer to 6wks...so anywhere in between depending on how bad the episiotomy was. Aside from prescription pain meds there's not much else that can be done..did they give you a numbing spray? that helped for the burning that I got with my tear, but the deep-down aching pain is just from tissue trauma and wil go away once the swelling is gone.  sorry you're hurting, girl, your baby is so beautiful!
