Not sure what's going on...

Newbie here, so be kind...
**TMI Alert!!**
Ok, so here's the deal. August 12  I had a positive home preg. test, the following morning took another (just to make sure) and got a negative result. Aug 14 had heavy cramping and bleeding that lasted about 6 days. Some small clots. I would have only been about 5 weeks preggers, if I really was. Since then I have not had a period and have had 4 neg. home preg. tests.( last test taken aprox. 3 weeks ago) Since having my daughter in May '06, I have been regular with a 38 day cycle, before that I was extremely irregular. I have been having pregnancy symptoms incl. nausea/vomiting, bloating, mild cramping, backache and fatigue. Also, my last period before the m/c (or whatever happend) was June 28, would have been due for another Aug. 5, a week later (Aug 12) was when I had the positive pregnancy test.So why have I not had a period for 11 weeks now and negative pregnancy tests? Oh! and I didn't go to the dr. cause thought I just got a false positive in the first place ( and cause I can never get an appt. with her!! arrgh!) Please tell me I am not the only one who has gone through this!! Sorry if this is haphazard info!! Typing in a hurry as would like to get some feedback. I think I will go to a clinic today, though not sure what they can do for me...

Got my blood work back today. I my hormone levels are normal and my HCG is at 0. Doesn't really account for not having a period in so long...but I'm trying to relax more (yoga) and it's really helping :) Hopefully AF will come and we can start TTC again :) Thanks again for all of your kind words :)

Just got back from the dr's. They're sending me for blood work to check HCG levels and other things. Hopefully we can find out what's going on and we can get back to trying :) I'll keep you posted on what's happening...Thanks for your kind words :)

I kinda had the same situation but i was startin off with twins and one died i guess. I bled for about 8 or 9 days straight. I thought i miscarried, and they didnt see another baby so they thought i did too then a week later they found a baby on the other side. So they said something about having twins and one died. Weird and confusing situation. I dont know if thats your case though because of a neg test. I think nikki seems to make since that not all the pregnancy came out and that would stop your period. I would def get them to check you out. Its really hard to tell, it could be a few things.

EricaB28, It is possible that you had an early miscarraige. Which would explain the positive and then the bleeding. Now, the fact that you haven't had a period since this occured is worrisome. It could be that you had an early missed miscarraige. Which means you miscarried but not all of the baby materials were released from your body. Home pregnancy tests are not very sensitive for the most part. Not many will read HCG less than 10. So, my suggestion is to make an appointment with your doctor. Let him know what has happened, he'll probably order a blood test. If the results are greater than 5 for HCG, then he will more than likely do an ultrasound to see what is going on. If they aren't greater than 5, he may say wait a few more weeks and come back for another blood test. Most websites will tell you that it takes up to 10 weeks (with the actual time being 4 weeks after you reach HCG level of less than 1 or 0) to get your first period after a miscarraige. If any baby materials still exist, this may not happen again for quite some time. I have had 2 miscarraiges. After my first, it took forever to get my period back, seems like it was almost 2.5 months. I didn't get one after my 2nd miscarraige, since I got pregnant again immediately. Miscarried in early March and found out I was preggers again May 6th.

Thanks Lisa!! That's exactly what I'm confused about!! If it was a false positive, then why haven't I gotten a period in over 2 months? It's all so frustrating, just want to TTC again...Here's hoping... :)

Is it possible to get a false positive?? I know it is to get a false negative...I am not too sure...But someone here will help you..
