Helppp

I'm a ftm and I'm trying to figure out what I need to get for the baby. I heard it's bad for your baby to sleep in a crib when it's an infant. Is that true? And what did your new born sleep in when you first brought them home.

Sids risk factors

Sex- boys are more likely to die of sids.

Age- babies in second and third month are at more of a risk.

Race- black, American Indians and Eskimo infants are at an increased risk.

Family history- babies with siblings or cousins to die of sids are at an increased risk.

Second hand smoke exposed ingants

Premature infants

Maternal risk factors

Mother under 20

Smoker

Drugs or alcohol

No or not enough prenatal care

Also it has been proven that infants that are not checked on while sleeping are at a higher risk. That includes those who sleep alone and are in a room alone.

If you want to put baby in crib it is best to put baby crib in your room. I just found it easier to use the bassinet part of pack and play and to co sleep.

Never have i heard boys are at a higher risk for sids. Children can sleep in whatever you want them to sleep in just dont put anything in the crib with them. A blanket is fine to cover them with so they dont get cold. I have two boys , my oldest always slept in his crib. My youngest we co-slept a bit and now he sleeps in his crib.

I used a pack n play with bassinet while I was awake and took baby to bed with me at night to co sleep. Babies that sleep in a crib by them selves are at a higher risk for sids. Boy babies are also at a higher risk.
