Please help! Waiting on my period --

Edited version! Please read this one! Thank you!

I'm 21. Last month, my period began on Jan. 1. It's usually rather irregular, averaging around days 28-31. I had terrible food poisoning that nearly had me hospitalized for about 3 days (though I didn't fully recover for 8 days) starting around Jan. 14.

I did not have sex during this time period (I've actually never had direct penis-vagina sexual intercourse). However, on day 29 of my cycle (when I normally get my period,) I was kissing a guy, and he fingered me and went down on me. I had my shirt and underpants on the entire time except when he went down on me, and that was only for a couple of seconds. He was always wearing boxers. There was no direct penis-vagina contact. He did not ejaculate while we were kissing (or at least I didn't see anything). I doubt he had sperm on his fingers or in his pre-ejaculate (I'm not even sure if he had this) as we were kissing after a night out so even if he had masturbated earlier in the evening, he probably used the bathroom at least once while out at the bars.

It's been 42 days since my last period. Though my periods tend to be irregular, the latest it's ever been before has been 40 days (about 5 years ago). What are the chances that I could be pregnant from him fingering me and somehow having semen on his fingers? Also, can terrible food poisoning/stomach flu cause my period to be 2 weeks late?

Thank you!

Thank you! I have a major exam Tuesday morning, along with a paper due late Tuesday morning, so I'm going to wait until both are over before I take a pregnancy test. If by chance I were pregnant, I know I'd freak out and would not be able to concentrate on studying at all!

It's possible to miss a period when you are very stressed.  I don't know that the food poisoning would affect it, but the stress of having food poisoning might.  You said you are in university/college, so the stress of exams and college life may have something to do with it as well.
The best way to know is to test and you should be able to tell for sure by now.  Test first thing in the morning with an Early Preg Test.  If it's negative, consider yourself in the clear.
I hope all comes out well for you!

Thanks, the more I think about it, the more impossible it seems. Plus, I don't have any of the "typical" signs of pregnancy (sore breasts, back aches, etc.). On the other hand, I don't have any of my usual PMS symptoms either. This is bizarre.

I talked on the phone to a nurse from my university, and she said food poisoning does not affect one's period. I'm not sure about that though -- my experience with food poisoning last month really impacted my body for a few days.

Any other thoughts out there? Thank you! :)
