9 weeks pregnant baby measuring at 7 weeks

I went in for my first ultrasound today. I am 9 weeks 1 day, but the ultrasound showed the age as 7 weeks. The ultrasound tech argued that I must be off on the date of conception. I explained to here that there is no way I got pregnant and had a positive pregnanacy test 5 days later at home. I have regular periods and I know that I have to be 9 weeks along plus or minus a few days.

She stated to me that ultrasounds in early pregnancy are right on as far as determining age. I am very worried that the baby is either not growing and I am headed to a miscarriage or has an abnormality.

Is there anyone out there who has had an early ultrasound and date 2 weeks behind? If so, how did it end? Also my ultrasound was an abdominal and I wondering if a vaginal would have been more precise.

Ultrasounds can be off a little bit, and you may have ovulated later. I wouldn't worry about it too much unless the dr is concerned.

she said my due date was now changed and the baby was only measuring 7 weeks, not nine as it should have been. she was basing size off of my lmp, not age of the baby. :(

She might have meant the growth was only 7 weeks. If you go based off of LMP, you're adding two weeks onto your baby, so at 9 weeks the fetus itself is only 7 weeks.
