Dating is typically the best part of the relationship, if you are scared to talk to him about this issue, then I would be very hesitant to jump into a marriage with him. My huband and I had the money discussion before we got married, and it wasnt a hostile conversation at all (and it SHOULDNT be)
My mom and my step dad have been married for 20 years and she makes less then he does, they have separate financial accounts and SHE pays a higher amount monthly then he does, and she resorts to credit cards to pay what she doesnt have. They have a marriage that involves little communication, dont let this be you in 20 years!
I'm sorry he's being like that. Not knowing the whole situation its hard to give advise besides maybe talking to a counselor. You can always split everything bill wise down the middle from now on.
I've been with my bf for 3 years now and he's the same way. Your money our money, my money my money. It's frustrating, but he's slowing getting better with me not working.
I would like to talk to him about sharing our money. I just don't know how to without pissing him off :(
His attitude is more your moneys my money, and my moneys my money.
Maybe since your getting married you should throw all finances in a common account you both can use. Once you choose to spend your life with someone its no longer their money or your money its our money. I would suggest maybe talking to a counselor to get over this hump.
