Problem at 20 Week Ultrasound

I went for my 20 week scan yesterday. Everything was going fine, baby is nice and healthy. the midwife was very happy and said that they were nearly done. The last thing they were looking at was the babys legs. One leg was outstretched and looked fine but she had trouble seeing the femur for the right leg. The midwife asked if i could go for a walk to see if the baby would move. I did so and came back. she still couldnt see the leg properly. It was almost as the leg squashed up as babies normall have there legs but both feet are visable. She was unable to see the femur and fears the babies thigh may not have formed properly. she was very hesitant to say anything as she wasnt 100% sure and the consultant was not at the hospital. I now have to go back on monday to see the consultant. I am very scared but am happy that everything else seems fine and the baby is healthy. Has anyone else had this problem?

Thanks Joy, both our families have been very supportive and my sister in law said that she had the same problem. One leg outstretched and one scrunched up. It was a midwife who did the scan, my partner got really annoyed at her as she kept calling the leg the anatomy, which could mean everything and anything. On our report everything is absolutely fine except that they could not see the right femur.
Im seeing a consultant tomorrow so im hoping and praying that everything will be ok.

Thanks for your comments. I will post back the results xx

I'd agree with Joy - was it the midwife that did the u/s or a tech that specializes in u/s?  I always had a tech do mine and one time my folks were in town and the dr did one for us and he laughed and said that the tech would be much better than he and the tech would be laughing at how bad the dr was at the u/s.  Focus on the good news - post again on Mon after your appt to let us know how it went.

Whenever I read posts like this my first thought is always- how skilled is the sonogram technician? It could just be that baby had their leg pressed against their body. One of my girls did that- she had one leg outstretched and the other scrunched up tight. It was quite comical to see!

Look at Monday as an opportunity to see baby again and no matter what happens your baby will be very loved!
