pain after amnio

i had an amnio done on friday, we did it because at 18 weeks we founf out that our baby was not developing normally, would not survive the pregnancy due to what they presume is a chromosone defefect. the day i had it i didn't have any cramps but  saturday i did and it is now sunday evening and Iam still having them. last night when i went to the bathrrom i wiped myeself and there was a brownish stain from my vagina, it hasn't happened since. I am worried because i need to drive anhour to a speciality hospital to deliver the baby on wednesday (they will be inducing me) and i wonder if i am already starting to miscarry. my back has been aching all day too

I see. I understand  then cause it's something SOOO serious. I'm sure you know that some womens dr's will tell them theres a small genetic problem (like my skin problem) and offer to eliminate the pregnancy for them. Mine asked but I made it clear that theres NO way I'd do that. I knew what I was getting into w/this pregnancy. But if I had the same type of baby you are, then I'd take that same rout.  I'm very sorry about your baby and wish you luck in future children. Once they find out what is wrong w/this one they can tell you if theres a chance other children could be conceived w/these deformities or if it's a one time thing.

God Bless!

I`m so sorry for you and your baby. It could be some hromosomal defects or congenital infection and I agree that it`s a multimalformative syndrome and chances to survive are very very small. The symptoms that you wrote maybe are a sign of misscarry and the inducing won`t be necessary. You chould go to chek you cervix (at you gyn) and if there is some dilatation maybe you should call and tell them to go early.

we did get a second (and third) opinion and it was even more grave then the first. The baby will not survive to term, it could die in two weeks or two months, only 1/2 the brain has formed, a problem with the heart as well as many other organs, one arm has not formed. There is also problems with the placenta which is why they can't tell me specifically what is causing the defects. i do have th option of playing the waiting game. All three doctors recommended induction. Believe me, aborting is the last thing I ever would do, but because there is zero chance of survival I have to think about the affect it would have on me to sit and wait for the baby to die and then deliver. I could've chosen the easy way out and had a d & c but this way they will be able to do more testing, i have to go through the labour, we've been told t could take 1 day or we coud be there 3-4 days

why the heck are you letting them induce you that early? Whats the genetic problem they say the baby has?

I've got a genetic problem, a skin disorder, and my heart stopped in utero when my mom was 34 weeks. They had to deliver me then, but she had the chance to abort and never did. Make sure you have more than one opinion on the babies condition.

And be sure they have the genetic test back. I'm having an amion @ 16 weeks (I'm 9+now) and my baby has a %50/50 chance of having my skin disorder. I will NOT abort, even if they say the baby might die.
My dr. said an Amnio takes 2-6 weeks to get results back!
