Agree its not for everyone but a lot of women just give up after a month or less yes I understand for those who didn't make enough or for the ones that got mastitis completely understandable but there is women out there who can but choose not to for watever reason. One thing some babys don't know how to latch on ill tell u. I did not knoe how to breastfeed nor did my daughter know how to latch on n belive me it was rough I wanted go give up so bad it hurt!!! but If i was able to take labor with no med I could take the pain for her health. My daughter learned just as I was how to latch on n latch her on but all that work paid off after 2months we were perfectly fine n happy no pain no struggle n im so proud of myself for not giving up n plan on BF baby #2. Im blessed to not know wat it is to wash/make a bottle or buy formula idk how formula moms do it that stuff is soo expensivee especially just for one can!!!

It only hurts if you are not doing it properly. It takes practice to get it right. It reduces the risk of breast cancer. It releases a hormone that helps reduce post pardom depression.

Breastfeeding isnt for everyone and some babys dont want it...just depends....some babys latch very quick and easily and some you realy have to put alot of work and effort to help baby... it doesnt hurt to give it a try and see how u like it! With my first i swore i wouldnt do it because growing up i wasnt around anyone that ever did so it was uncomfortable for me...well my son was born and he was hungry and i just tried it and he latched good but after 2 weeks i stopped producing milk and just gave up....this time around iv researched it more and im gonna realy try to make it work

Pros its better for baby.. I don't think there is any cons. Its cheaper.. you don't need to buy tons of bottles.. you loose weight faster up to 600 calories a day! Some woman just can't do it.. that would be the only con I can think OK.

So to the moms who say that labor and delivery hurt, I would rather have gone through labor 6 more times than have the pain I had breastfeeding. And I had no drugs whatsoever. My nipples were cracked and bleeding even though he was properly latched. I then ended up with a blocked duct which progressed to mastitis which then turned into an abscess. I had to get ultrasounds of my breast. They had to biopsy the duct by darting a needle in to my breast. So after a month of pure misery, the best thing I could have done was stop. I'm a much happier mom because of it so my son is now get if the best possible care he can AND I'm healthy. I wish I could have continued. But it's not for everyone and don't take for granted what some women struggle with just because it comes easily to you.

Pro, it's wayyyy cheaper. No bottles (unless you pump) it's always the perfect temperature. You don't have to fix a bottle when baby is hungry and crying. Bonding is great! Endorphins! Weight loss. Don't have to worry about lugging around the extra weight of bottles formula ect.

Cons. For atleast the first few weeks, your the only one who can feed baby so your more tired. It's hurts! (Till your body adjusts) things like mastitis are a possibility. It can be messy. (Leaks ect) ... Personally I have ruined a couple tops from lanolin.

After I came down with mastitis and an abscessed milk duct, I decided to switch to formula and now I really wish I hadn't. I've been trying to build my milk back up before it goes completely dry but nothing seems to be working. I can't believe how much more it costs and baby is still getting some breast. And I miss the bonding.

Everyone says its painful and it hurts thats why they dont want tk even attempt it. Im sorry but last time i checked labor and delivery was MORE painful and you still went through it, bc in the end its worth it. It does take a lot of dedication though! Pros out weigh the cons for sure! I tried with my daughter and was not successful only bc i waited till i left hospital to try so she already got use to the bottle. Def going to start as soon as this baby pops out this time!! Hoping i will be successful!! Pretty excited!!! Good luck ladies

I am going to pump, but it's 1) Not selfish not to breastfeed or pump and 2) There's a plethora of research that suggests it is and isn't as great as other research says.. it's whatever is right for you. Obviously it is cheaper though, that is one thing that is a fact.

Yes it does hurt while u get used to it but after the pain starts to fade u don't even notice it any more and again the cost of baby formula is high so u would be saving so much money. And like the others said there's nothing like your milk for your baby. Youll get used to it after a while reallly it doesn't take that long for it not to hurt. But really its guna be up to u if u wana deal with it or not.

Even though its a little painful the first couple of weeks, its better for the baby, reduces risk of sids, cheaper, you heal faster, you loose your baby weight faster, I think its just selfish not to.. the only reason people give is because it hurts but it's better for your baby so I guess it's whether or not you can deal with a little pain for a couple weeks

Cons: it does hurt the first 2-3weeks but gets easier, leakage at times, engoregement from too much milk

Pro: if exclusively breastfed its free unless u want to pump. Awsome bonding experience, burn 500-1000 calories PER DAY so u loose weight faster. Antibodies u pass to urebaby. Its obviously organic cz there's no chemicals or Artificial things . Healthier for ureself n baby. Babys who are breastfed tend to be healthier n get sick less than formula babys. No waking up to make a bottle. Milk is always perfect temperature. You don't have to worry about ure milk being recalled at stores like formula. I'm sorry but the pros outweight the cons just plain n simple.  At the end of the day u have to go thru it to experience it ure self but it does take dedication and time.

The only con I can think of is that sometimes it's hard to get started. I had inverted nipples with my first and had to use a nipple shield for a couple weeks.

Pros: it's healthy for you (helps your uterus go back to size quicker and also helps you loose weight; reduced your chances of certain cancers) and for Baby (contains antibodies to help build a strong immune system; packed full of nutrition), it's cheaper, it's more convenient (mixing formula takes time and warming up), it's a great bonding experience. If you want to share the benefits with your partner, you can pump and they can feed that the baby. Puts it on the same convenience level as formula, but you keep all the other benefits.
