Question For Already Moms

Or for any moms who happen to know anything about this. You know how they say you aren't supposed to eat after you go into labor. Have any of you ever gone into labor and then eaten food? Like, you didn't know it was labor and you ate something and then realized you were in labor? Did anything bad happen? It's not happening to me, I'm just curious because with my luck, it'll happen to me.

My labor started around 4:45 am, but I didn't really have an appetite before then. While I was in the hospital, they gave me a popsicle and fruit juice to keep my mouth from getting dry. And I pooped too lol. My biggest fear came true in front of my husband, mom, and mother-in-law.

I ate throughout my whole labor and didn't throw up or poop, I guess I got lucky!

I've attended a lot of births,  and I've never seen a mom poop on the birthing table,  but it's common.

But here's the truth.  There is a horrific stink in a birthing room. It's like nothing I've ever smelled before,  or after.  It STINKS.

It's a specific,  awful stench.

So stop worrying about pooping.  It's unlikely to happen but anyone who works in L&D knows this awful stench and is used to it.

I went into labour at 5am, ate breakfast at 8am, at 11am the hospital said don't eat anything because I was having an emergency csection. The csection didn't happen until 3pm which was plenty of time for chance of aspiration from breakfast to pass.

I asked the doctor and the nurses and they told me I did not poop. I'm so glad. But I also had 2 Popsicles and threw them up. Gross

It will be okay hon.  The labor and delivery nurses are terrific and really guide you through it.  They know it is hard and do their best to ease concerns and make you comfortable.  good luck!

Having a baby is not glamorous work, that's for sure!!  Honestly, it is so common that no one says a word and they scooped it up and cleaned in like 2 seconds flat.  They don't make a big deal out of it.  Having a child is a humbling experience for sure.

Omg. I'd hate that so much Specialmom. I'm just curious because being very close to my due date, I'm starting to think about a lot of different scenarios and that happened to be one of them.

I'm just going to say that you may have pooped and not known it.  Most women do poop.  I did and didn't even realize it---  husband broke the news to me.  Ugh.

Well, I guess if you are hanging out, eat and then eventually go into labor, you can't control that.  But labor often takes 'awhile'.  :>)

If you are IN labor, you'll know.  And if you don't know, then you still wouldn't probably be very hungry at that time due to feeling like your back is killing you or 'something' is going on.

I had ONE popsicle that they gave me when I was being induced.  Barfed the whole thing up and then dry heaved orange flavor.  Not fun.

good luck

Well, I was induced in the morning and I ate the night before. The morning I went in I used the bathroom,  and u might during labor. But I didn't poop when I was actually pushing. That was my fear haha. Just try to eat light
