Also, better not to supplement with formula.
This is encouraging him not to suck from you what he needs.
Also his tummy doesn't need to feel round and full after every feed - what do you mean his tummy doesn't seem nice and full?
As long as he is gaining weight he is doing fine. If he's not getting enough he'll ask to be fed more often (which is not a problem for him though it may be a bit more tiring for you while things balance out) and then you'll be getting more stimulation to produce more milk so the situation will be addressed.
It is actually not common that mothers can't produce enough for their babies if the babies are feeding on demand. (again as long as he's gaining weight within expected range there's likely no problem)
Agree with ashipooh! It's baby's suckling that boosts your milk production. Even if nothing is coming out it will signal to your body that you need to produce more. Also, drink TONS of water and cut back on teas, coffees, pop, etc. as caffeine can dehydrate you.
each side, each time.....depending on how long he feeds for. If he does 10 mins on each side, then let him suck to 15 mins on each side. (it accidently erased from my last post oops)
Oatmeal is supposed to help!
your welcome! It can be a little stressful to, so just take it easy. If you let him suck for like 25 to 30 minutes on each side, it'll come in real fast....
Thank you it is very helpful :)
Let him just keep sucking! The more sucking he does, for longer periods the more your milk will come in! Make sure your drinking plenty of water because that helps with production and make sure your eating plenty of good foods! :-) I hope this helps!
Also, sometimes peoples milk will just dry up, you can talk to your doctor or his and they can give you a perscription for a pill that will help increase your milk.
