Reading Recommendations

Anyone has a recommendations for a good book to read while pregnant? I heard that "What to expect when you are expecting" is a great book, however, just read the reviews on Amazon and does not sound very good to me! Any other books anyone knows of?? Thanks

After LOTS of reviews and time in the bookstore, I got "The baby center Essential Guide to Pregnancy and birth". For DBF I got "The Birth Partner". It is great for dads, coaches and doulas but I read it cover to cover and learned A LOT! These books are objective. They give information without being anti hospital or forcing natural. It gives you information so you can make informed decisions and feel confident in your decision no matter what that is. They help out a lot with pregnancy and dealing with labor and the various methods available including drugs. Both books were very good and didn't have a negative tone or spend the entire book making you think that you have every problem possible. These books don't have the comedy that pregnancy s***s has but that type of humor isn't for everyone. Personally I find things that are difficult to deal with it is best to use humor but some find that really offensive. Plus you can relate more if you feel the same way.

There's a light-hearted but informative book...Pregnancy *****. Can't remember the author. But there's one for the dad, too, called Pregnancy ***** for Dads. They give you good information, but in a funny, light-hearted format. My husband has enjoyed his, and he now knows more about pregnancy than I expected!

Yeah I agree with Joy, don't waste your money on the What to expect book, its worthless.  I bought it because its "the pregnancy bible" but it really doesn't explain as much as you'd like to.  Girlfriend's guide to pregnancy is good also there's also one that's called the "Panic free pregnancy" also good one.

I hate What to Expect.

I have a ton of pregnancy books. I REALLY like Pregnancy Week-By-Week and The EVERYTHING Pregnancy Book for developmental information.

For fun reads you have to get Belly Laughs and Girlfriend's Guide to Pregnancy.

For your husband The Expectant Father is good.

If you want birth books then there's a ton out there that I'd have to look up.
