my doctor said to start oatmeal at 4 months..once in the am and then again at night, 2-3 weeks later then start solids one every3 days starting wit orange veggies..then fruit and then green veggies.
You're going to get conflicting opinions about this. Solids should not be started until 4-6 months of age. Preferably 6 months. Babies belly's are very immature and have trouble digesting foods. I remember when I started Jayden at even 6 months he did not poop for 3 days straight. All rice cereal is are empty calories and solids are used for taste and texture at such a young age. There is no nutritional value to them. However, if your baby suffers from reflux some pediatricians recommend a pinch of rice cereal. But I would only do that if it was recommended by a pediatrician for that reason only. When you start cereal, I would say give the baby it first thing in the morning, not night, only because you don't know how the baby will react to it and you don't want a baby having a belly ache at night time.
Dont start to feed a baby Rice Cereal until 4 months. And make it as runny as posible. Start out with once a day. Probably around dinner time. If you feed it too often you will only be setting yourself up for problems. Baby's take awhile to digest new foods, especially after only having fluids for 9 months in the belly, and then forumla or breast milk for 4 months. Be gentle on their stomachs, or you'll have a lot of cleaning up to do. lol,
Once you've established rice cereal 1 day, for about 4 weeks, then build up to twice a day for 4 weeks. After that i think you'd be ok so put a little fruit with it.
Have fun!
I started once daily usually in the morning after her first bottle but before her second bottle for the day... and i did that for about a week and then I started giving it to her twice a day once in the morning once in the evening.. i did that for about 2 weeks and then I started mixing in solids... one new solid every 3 to four days.. and aubree loved it .. especially fruit
