SAW THE HEARTBEAT FOR THE 1ST TIME!!!

I posted this on the March 09 forum... but thought I would share with you all too! ;)

So, we had our first ultrasound today and everything went awesome... except for the fact that my husband and I both began crying before the ultrasound even started. Here's the thing... we don't look at ultrasounds as an exciting procedure.  We had one done our first pregnancy when I was 15 weeks and it showed our baby without a heartbeat.  So, after that traumatic experience, we have HUGE anxiety whenever the doctor suggests an ultrasound.  But, then the tears turned to relieved tears when the technician showed us the beating heart!  What a relief!  The baby's heartbeat is nice and strong, beating at 171 bmp.  Anyway, just thought I would share my excitement with you all!  Hope everyone else is having positive experiences :)

I know the feeling. DH and I have been ttc for 5 years. We are now 8w2d pg after our second IVF attempt, when we saw that heart beat at 6 weeks we cried and smiled and cried some more. It is such a heart-filling moment to see that flicker of life going strong.
Congratulations!

Thanks all!  Yes, we do think that this experience was pretty amazing today.  We wanted to video it but in case something was not right, we were hesitant.  So, I have another one scheduled in 10 weeks when I am 18 weeks (anatomy scan) so we will video that one.  Still floating on cloud 9 ;)

i know how you feel.  after 2 MC's with US showing no heartbeat, i dread them too, but wasn't it worht it today????

after seeing my lil gummy bears heartbeat, which was 176 bpm, so our babies HB are very, similar i cried too.  both me and the fiance cried, we had an experience just like yours.

But congrats, good luck and post your bean pics.  i posted mine asap, it really looks like a gummy bear, check them out.

Yeah!!!  I'm so happy for you guys.  There are so few times when we get to cry those happy tears.  Isn't it just amazing to see?  Just wait, it gets even better with later ultrasounds, you can watch the baby move, stick out his/her tongue, see their foot or hand, it's amazing.  You are truely blessed.  Congrats on your new family member =D
