Scared & frustrated!

I was in L&D Thursday for almost 6 hours as they monitored my blood pressure & gave me shots to stop contractions. I was in there again for monitoring for about 2 hours on Saturday. Yet again I was up there yesterday for 3 1/2 hours for more monitoring & more tests. All three days I was contracting & it felt like nobody was telling me anything. I would ask what was going on & all I was get was "we are testing your kidneys & waiting on some more test to come back". I asked them if they knew why i was having contractions & they said they didnt know. I was also checked to see if i was dialated all three days .... Thursday-no, Saturday-no, and then on Monday- the burse said "a finger tip". What does that mean? I also had some bleeding after the nurse checked me on Monday & it scared the poo outta me because it looked like some of my plug was coming out & there was clots. I called L&D about it and all they said was "it's normal". Anyone else have this happen? I have an appointment on Monday with my doc & will probably have to go back up to L&D for hours. I'm so scared & frustrated because I really have no idea what's going on.

Its normal to have some spotting after an examination. And a "finger tip" usually means about 1cm. Roughly.
If you felt like you werent being listened to you should have said something or bring it up to your dr at you appt. Nothing is more important that making you feel secure and safe in the hospitals care. (Im an RN) They should have tended to you better. Im sorry that they didnt. Talk to your dr about how you felt and exactly what your concerns are. And its normal to lose your mucous plug over a period of time and not go into labor. With my first son I lost it completely at 35 weeks and didnt go into labor until 40 weeks. Talk to your dr though...Again Im sorry they didnt make you feel more confident in the care you shouldve recieved.

Fingertip means you are almost 1 cm dilated! Your body is starting to have baby :-) the blood and mucus could be your bloody show. That can happen a week before labor though. Go have sex (make sure to orgasm) that's how my contractions began :-) of the blood is clots and large then check with Dr but I had blood smeared in mucus. I didn't have clots.

Thanks ladies. I've been super freaked out all week & to make things worse, I saw a nurse walk by my room reading a book titled "how to birth a baby". I am sure they didn't realize how they were acting and understand they have to deal with overly scared FTM like myself. I am glad they haven't given me that shot again tho, it made my heart feel like it was going to explode! My pulse got up to 125 with the first dose & all the way up to 145 with the second .... Just a lil scary because I have PVC's a bunch & didnt want to have a heart attack. I finally asked while being released yesterday about my tests & she said my 24 urine test was "good" & they are still waiting on the other ones.
