She said it dropped?

My girlfriend is 2 months pregnant and said that she was walking up the stairs and it felt like the baby dropped lower or somethin. She is freakin herself out over it but I dont kno if it is anything to get worried about. Is it normal? Or is that supposed to happen?

There is no where for the baby to drop to at 8 weeks.  It is already lower than the pubic bones.  You feel tons of odd stuff when you are pregnant.  actually most of it is every day feelings that you notice more when you are pregnant.  Also, the extreme worry is very natural and normal.  Most people have a severe worry until they can feel the baby move (between 14-23 weeks or so)  which lets them know almost daily that baby is still alive.  I know even on days that I had a u/s and saw the h/b and knew everything was fine, by the end of the night I had a new worry and swore something horrible had happened.  I agree with everyone else that she needs to get a book.  Find one that goes by weeks or months.  It will give you the approximate size in cm and will show a picture and you will get a good idea.  It will also help her determine what is normal.  Tons of things that you would never thing were normal are completely normal and if I hadnt read them first, I would have probably freaked out.  They also have several books for dads that are great.  They are written by men and give you the basics of what is going on and gives you opinions from the male point of view.  Lastly, in the next week or so you will be making decisions about tests that you have the option of getting.  The books really give you a clear understanding of what they are and how necessary they are.  You may want to look into that.  Ok im done, I could go on forever.  Good Luck!!

i agree that she may need to read a book or do some research b/c what she thinks shes feeling and going through just seem so very far off from an actual normal pregnancy at 2 months.

It was probably gas... It'll also feel that way when she pee's because as her bladder deflates it'll feel like everything drops... it kind of does but it's just cause of the ligaments.

Don't worry about it. She could just be feeling that because of streching.

I think you guys should contact her doctor and sit down and talk about the physiology of pregnancy. You're saying that she's saying a lot of things about her pregnancy that just are not true. Get into a class, read a book about it, or ask her doctor some questions.

I agree w/the above... babies don't drop when they're 8 week old embryos, it happens during the last few weeks of pregnancy as the baby gets into birth position. She probably felt some round ligament pain or some uterine cramping. As long as there is no severe pain or bleeding she's doing fine. As the pregnancy progresses she'll get more used to being pregnant, and all the aches, pains, and strange sensations that go along w/it! In the meantime reassure her that all is well and she needs to relax and not worry. Best wishes!

I agree with the above poster.  At 2 months pregnant i dont' think she would feel anything.  I think she felt something else like a ligament stretching or somethin and is freaking over nothing.  Unless she is having bleeding and/or cramping then try to relax.

At 2 months pregnant the fetus is about the size of kidney bean. I am going to say that what she thinks she felt was not a baby dropping by any means.
