Should I be sleeping on my side?

Hello! :) this is my first pregnancy and I am 22 years old. I'm about 12 weeks pregnant and I've heard that I should be sleeping on my left side.. And I try to when I first lay down but always end up flat on my back after I fall asleep. How long until I need to sleep on my side?

Its not a must to sleep on your side they just suggest it because you get better blood flow. Im 22w an i sleep on my back, side, belly, which ever ways comfortable.

I'm 17+4 with my 2nd child. I have a pretty big baby bump right now, but I still sleep on my stomach, with one leg propped up on my bf or a pillow to relieve some of the weight off my stomach. Left side doesn't work for me:-)

Just try to work yourself into either side. I used to sleep on my tummy every night and now I'm 39+3 and obviously cant. But at this point I can't lay on my back long at all. So just work at it. Maybe if you get a body pillow now you can train yourself lol you will want one for when your bigger anyway

Throughout pregnancy you should sleep in whatever position you are most comfortable!! For me, at 8mos pregnant, it's still my back sometimes. Throughout this pregnancy (my 2nd baby) for a while one side would be more comfortable than the other and then it would switch. I know some say don't dare sleep on your back but I talked to a number of midwives about it and they said it is fine. If you shouldn't do it, it won't be comfy.
