Small Gestational Sac

Sorry for the long post, but here is my story.  My DH and I TTC'd for 2 years before getting our BFP.  I had little to no symptoms in the beginning.  Last week all symptoms (real or imagined) had disappeared.  I had convinced myself that I had a missed miscarriage and called the doctor.  My original ultra sound was scheduled for 8/12, but they moved it up to today.

The tech informed me that I have a small gestational sac.  According to my LMP, I should be 7W4D today.  The tech dated the embryo at 6w6d and my sac at 5w0d.  The crown to rump length is 8.4 mm and the sac is 9.5 mm.  The good news is I saw and heard the heartrate which was 133.  The tech indicated that I could miscarry and that I am currently "on the fence" as she put it.  My next ultra sound is scheduled for next Thursday, 8/14.

Does anybody have any thoughts?  Is it likely that I will miscarry?  Any input would help.

Hey there. I was at the early pregnancy clinic this morning and have got exactly the same news from them. My baby is small for my dates, and the sac is too small for the baby. Unfortunately my baby's heart rate was slow too, so I have more or less been told to expect a miscarriage before too much longer.

I felt the same as you, had mild pregnancy symptoms until a couple of weeks ago, then they all disappeared completely. I asked my doctor for help, but she didn't want to scan me, just took some blood tests which looked good at the time.

I really hope you have a better prognosis than me. As far as I can tell, it's only a matter of time before I lose my baby - which is very very sad. Good luck with your pregnancy, hopefully you'll have more luck than me.

Love Elaine

Well, obviously only time will tell.  I THINK (not totally positive, so maybe someone else knows for certain) that doctors like to see the heart rate between 150-180.  So, maybe with the lower heart rate and the smaller gestational sac they are concerned?  I don't really know... hopefully you just ovulated a few days late and the dates are off :)
