Ladies I have a serious question for you, Does anybody smoke weed (before or after finding out you're pregnant) to help control symptoms and help give you an appetite? I've been smoking for about a year now and just found out on Christmas I'm pregnant almost 7 weeks :) I've cut down on smoking for my baby but when I don't smoke I don't have an appetite and can go almost the full day without eating witch is not good for the baby. Do you ladies have any good advice for me about smoking and how to gain an appetite without smoking?

And please just don't listen to the positive comments about a baby being smart, or someone's baby didn't get taken, etc...people dodge bullets...I'm a nurse, I seen where a girls baby got taken because she failed a drug test...your doctor doesn't have to do a drug test...someone called CPS on her, staying that they knew she was smoking weed while pregnant...when things get called in to CPS they have to investigate...it was still in her system when she had her baby...and I didn't smoke weed (don't smoke at all) and my babies are smart...both of mine where spelling their first and last name by the time they were three, counting to one hundred, knew abcs, colors, shapes, etc...just think about what kind of life you want your baby to have and make your decision, because it's you're choice to make...good luck!!!

You need to take in to consideration that every pregnancy, every baby, and every doctor is different...you don't know if the smoking will cause your baby breathing issues or not...I have seen some mothers some their entire pregnancy and some of the babies were fine others were not...so if you want to risk your baby having breathing issues go ahead...My friend did, and she has to give her son breathing treatments 3-4 times a day, make sure he doesn't have an asthma attack when out playing too much...his lungs were not developed enough, and she was 39 weeks when she had him...if your appetite is what you are worried about then you should talk to your doctor and see if there are any medications you can take to increase your appetite, usually the prenatal vitamins pick up your appetite...and it is very possible that your baby get taken away because some doctors will do a drug screen with the test they run...and notice I said some...and they will contact child protective service, sometimes on the first one but some will give you random ones after that...if you still fail the drug test then on the day you delivery they will let child protective services and will do one last text on you and if you fail while at the hospital your child will get taken...I'm not throwing shade at you...all people are different...just think long and hard....ask yourself is it worth it?? And the rest is up to you...

I'm sorry, but smoking weed while pregnant is a 100% selfish thing to do. Plenty of women get through the morning sickness just fine without it. The baby will get nutrients that they need from prenatal vitamins and from what you have in your body.  Eat saltines and drink  ginger ale. I got by on really cold fruit and crackers. Just because there are babies that are lucky enough to be born without and issues due to smoking pot doesn't mean it's fool proof. My birth mother smoked weed and did other drugs while she was pregnant with me and I was fortunate enough to have been ok but it doesn't make it right to jeopardize your babys life and health, period. Make better choices for the sake of your unborn child who doesn't get to make these choices.

No one would take your baby thats a lie and im sure. I know to many people who smoked through out their while pregnancy and they have their healthy babies with them. I do recommend you to ask your dr i know it will be awkward but you need to ask the dr to see what he or she can recommend you to do either way they are going to find out you smoke bc of blood test plus every visit you get a urine test so trust me they'll know so just tell them you do it and how you feel. Honestly i dont think is bad i did it for my first trimester and well i quit bc i didnt want to risk it, therr has been many women who done it their whole pregnancy and everything turns out good but every womens body is and reacts different thats why i just decided to not risk it. If you do keep going i do recommend you to smoke out of a pipe since its the healthiest way to do it. A cigar contains tabaco in it and tabaco is definitely very harmful for a baby. Anyways Its all up to how you feel but always consult your dr.

I am slowly cutting back on tobacco.  Have 3 left for my new years resolution.  I quit weed about.. 2 weeks ago.. I'm 31 weeks preggers today and I'm only quitting weed because I don't want child services to have any reason to be near my family even though weed is awesome :) many benefits.

My best friend smoked her whole entire pregnancy cause it helps her with her seizures. Her baby is as healthy as can be and doesnt have the withdrawals like people say a baby would.i would of smoked my whole pregnancy to but my husband and I both decided when we got back together that we would both quit. I dont see a problem with it as long as you dont abuse it. Just do it when you need to eat that way you can eat.

I smoke weed  and I'm 38 about to 39 weeks. My baby is fine. strong heartbeat. Growing very good.. Ive had no complications with my pregnancy at all. My cousin smoked the day she went into labor and had a big healthly baby boy. The doc did say something about weed in the baby system but they didn't take her baby. If u do the research there are no risk at all for smoking weed while pregnant!

Hi there.  Well, I would definitely ask your doctor. This is your best source of information.  If you feel you need to smoke weed, then I'd do so only with a doctor's approval.  We ask our doctor about everything else-- so why wouldn't we accept their guidance on this?

What I'd do with no appetite is eat on a schedule.  No appetite or not.  Healthy small meals at certain intervals throughout the day and just do it like taking medicine.  Then you don't need something artificial to stimulate you to eat, you're doing it and it will begin to become a habit.

Nausea for the majority of pregnant women goes away around 12 to 13 weeks.  Hopefully yours will too.

Smoking pot like anything else is a habit and people generally like the high they get as it becomes their normal.  I know it is hard to give up when you are used to it.   Sounds like you are trying to cut down and I commend you for that.  Good luck with everything hon

I looked into this because my nausea was so bad and weed was recomended to me even though it's not something I would typically do. Smoking is not good for the baby because you are inhaling smoke and reducing the amount of oxygen your baby gets. There is no research either way to prove definitely the weed itself can be harmful or not. There has been research, but just not enough because it's not considered ethical to ask women to smoke anything while pregnant and it's hard to collect honest info since it's illegal in most places. Your baby could be born perfectly healthy, but I wouldn't risk it. I also have no appetite. I  force myself to eat healthy food and take vitamins because I know I need to even if I'm not hungry. I know it's easy to say just eat, but it's hard to actually do it. It's something I really struggle with.  But if you don't eat you could become weak, faint, and it can harm the baby. So I try to snack all day. It helps with nausea too. And you aren't forcing a big meal when you aren't hungry. Just make sure you're snacking on healthy things that you need like fruits, veggies, nuts, peanut butter crackers or toast, and try to eat actual small meals too so you can get in enough protein and anything else you may be lacking. If that doesnt work for you, try anything you can to eat. You need the calories. And talk to your doctor about it too so they can give you advice and make sure your baby is progressing like he or she should be. Good luck!

I smoked my whole pregnancy weed up til I was 6 months weed and cigarettes the whole time. I have a happy healthy baby girl and I tried my best to stop but due to issues in my household it was hard so I wouldn't listen to anyone but a medical professional and my midwife told me to cut back not stop so try your best to stop

I smoked weed with my first, but cut back to once or twice a week and only a hit or two and she came out perfectly healthy, very smart, no side effects. I did stop before my 3rd trimester because I was afraid of drug testing. This time I am doing the same thing but haven't stopped in the 3rd trimester because I have been very sick and still working up to 36 weeks which has cause siatic (spelling?) Nerve pains in my back daily. I try taking Tylenol but it doesn't do enough. This is the 4 time I've been sick this trimester and weed gives me a little relief. I believe in moderation its fine. Not all states drug test unless they have a reason to. I would look into what your state does.

i dont know if they can just take the baby like that. if its illegal in your state and the baby is born with a problem, obviously they are going to see what's in the baby's system and if they do find it they will probably go to your house and check on the baby every week just stay on top of things. I would talk to my doctor about that. honestly they are the only ones who can give u the best answer. if u Dont want to ask your doctor about it then I wouldn't be doing it. your gonna have to be honest with your doctor and let them know you've been smoking weed. I would deff tell my doctor

I have smoked my whole pregnancy. I smoked on a regular for the past two years. So I just cut down to one hit a day. It helps me keep food down stay relaxed helps me want to eat. I also did tons of research and they cant find Anything wrong with the babys it has not effect. The only thing is your baby is more alert. My sister also smoked with her son he is 3now and super smart great talker walked early can almost count to ten. I am 39 weeks and my son is perfectly health and the right size heatbeat is always right on. Plus heIis super active. If you feel like it helps you dont stop its not hurting your baby at all. Being stressed and not eating will hurt the baby more. Dont worry about anyone else do what you think is best for you. The only thing I suggest is that you cut down.good luck and congratulations on your pregnancy!!

If you know not eating is unhealthy for the baby then clearly you know you need to eat. No need to smoke..
