Yes ma'am :) I keep telling my mom I am not going to L&D looking yucky, I will have my hair washed and my legs shaved haha. Some L&D actually have showers there in the rooms for you to use, I've heard it can help relax mama and get her through the contractions to have hot water on her back (esp, for back labor!)

I was showering while I was in labor, contractions and all. TMI Even shaved my lady parts Lol it was terrible but there was no way I was leaving with out a shower.

I have done that with my two previous deliveries, my water didn't brake though but when I knew I was in labour for sure I got in the shower for a while and I found the water to be very helpful and calming for myself. It helped me a lot with coping with the contractions, every time I would get one I would just let the warm water fall on my belly and back and breath through them. I will be doing that with this pregnancy, I already told my husband that since I'm planning on doing it natural this time( if everything turns out just the way I'm hoping for of course because anything can happen) I will be in the shower for as long as possible before heading to the hospital. In my perfect little world haha I will be fully dilated or at least 9 cm by the time we get to the hospital so I just push the baby out lol. My doctor told me she induces her patients at 39 weeks so I hope my baby comes before that. P.S. I felt with my previous pregnancy that the fact I took a nice long shower before going to the hospital it helped me be more relaxed and therefore dilate faster. God bless and good luck with everything!

My doctor actually recommended to me to make sure I took a shower before heading into the hospital.  She also said it is fine to get in the tub for a bath while in early labor to relax.  Women have water births.  :>)

Agree that it hardly ever goes really fast and that shower sure feels good!  good luck to all

Doesn't have to be a quick shower... you don't have to be in a huge hurry. After my water broke I took a nice long shower, packed my bags, hung out with my husband, called my mom, watched a couple movies... left for the birthing center about 12 hours after my water broke, when contractions finally got to about five minutes apart. Didn't deliver for another nine hours after that. It's rarely a super quick process especially with a first baby.
