Thanks for the confirmation babydue07182013 but just because you have tattoos, doesn't mean you're an expert. That was the point i was trying to make. I've dated Tattoo artists and have very close friends that are. So i know what I'm talking about.

Yeah I have about 15 tats but never got tatted while pregnoid. I haven't had it done while breastfeeding either mostly just because I was permanently attached to a tiny milk sucking creature ;) but its good to know things like that  just for the sake of being well informed

Ok so I looked this up. The ink doesn't enter the bloodstream, but they still don't know the effects on an unborn baby. Better safe than sorry.

Haha not an assumption. They don't know the affects of tattoo ink on an unborn baby so its safer to not get a tattoo while pregnant. If your showing they won't give you one anyways. The ink can get in your blood stream. You bleed when you get a tattoo. You could also pass out, some people get lightheaded. I have tattoos :P

I've heard of higher chance of ink poisoning and bleeding if you get tatted while pregnant I was going to have one done 2 months ago but the man said he'd loose his license if anyone found out he gave me one so if your showing more than likely they'll refuse

No the ink will not hurt the baby because the ink is only on the top layer of skin... Getting a tattoo will not hurt you or the baby your just more prone to infections that's why they tell you not. And of course the cleanest place to go is a professional and some just wont do it while pregnant... If you do get one you have to take care of it extremely well

I got a tattoo while breastfeeding... both of them actually. Idk all the specs let's just all agree that you should wait until after the baby since that's what everyone is saying just for different reasons.

If ink doesn't enter the bloodstream why wouldn't they tat a BFing mother?

If you go to an actual artist, with a license they will most likely NOT tattoo you. Tattooing while pregnant does NOT harm baby at all because tattoos are on the skin, no deeper and the ink will never enter your blood stream. The reason you should wait is because while pregnant your immune system isn't as great as prepregnancy and it is easier for you to get an infection. I did, however get a tattoo about 4 weeks ago. My tattoo healed slower and scanned more than my half sleeve that was finished 2 months before I got pregnant. My tattoo that I got while pregnant looks wonderful, and the ink stayed well but just took longer to heal. My recommendation is to wait until after you have baby and are not breast feeding (if you choose to do so). Most places wont tattoo breast feeding women either.

I have heard ink poisoning to the baby too. I guess BC the ink enters the blood stream which goes to baby. Idk either way it is best to wait.

Ya...the ink is not the worry at all. The only concern is getting an infection. Best to wait intil after baby for sure. :-)

In Most states ratio artist can lose there license if they tattoo a prego woman that should tell you something right there plus it is true that you will bleed more and the ink won't look as good so your better off waiting and having a better looking tattoo

No the ink will get into your blood and get to the baby. Wait til after baby is born

Your blood level is also higher meaning you'll most likely bleed more, swell worse and the color won't saturate very well and your tattoo will scar. All of that on top of what the other posters commented. It's not worth it to chance while pregnant, I have 10 tattoos and already have one drawn up for after baby comes. Just wait

Trust me I love tattoos and piercings and definetely have been dying to get more ,but I'm waiting it out until after baby comes cus I just don't want to risk anything. I'm about to be 29w after a while it doesn't feel like a long wait anymore. Just wait it out is my opinion (:

No you could get an infection the chances are so high for infection when preggo even if the equipment is sterile. Most parlours don't tat or pierce ladies past the first tri.

most places won't do them if your pregnant. but they are ok to get. just know, your body is more prone to infection being pregnant, and there are also the chances of catching diseases of course. I'd say it's worth waiting till after you have the baby. I wouldn't want to take any chances.

No. You should wait. When your pregnant theirs a big chance in infection, not just in tattoos but in general
