The name Kane

OK ladies I know I've posted a lot about baby names, but I'm just having such a hard time with it. My husband has been dead set on the name Kane, but a lot of people including my mom doesn't like it because Cain is the first murderer in the Bible. I'm not religious, but I get sick of people mentioning that when we say we're thinking of naming him Kane. My hubby REALLY needed to go to the eye doctor & wouldn't and I told him if he went he could name the baby Kane, and he went so now I have to keep  my word, but it's really bothering me what people will say. What are your ladies thoughts /opinions.

Also I thought we could change it a little to Kainen just to please people and still call him Kane, but I know a girl who was a grade below me in school and we know all the same people but aren't really friends, but her son's name is Cainen. & we have talked on facebook. That's not a common name and I don't want her to think I'm copying her. I feel either way people will talk shiz lol. The perks of living in a small town.... Not! Ha.

I get so much crap because my hubby and I are naming our daughter ellie-mae cylin. Her generation will know nothing of the Beverly hillbillies and it will just be a pretty name at that point. Everyone is going to have an issue with any name you choose no matter what it is because its not the name THEY picked out. Don't let them get to you if y'all like that name then name him kane

We might use kane as a middle name.  Our names have been unusual, and people have given us a hard time about them, but what maters is if you like it.  They will come around.  Ive thought about not sharing our name choice this time because I honestly don't want to hear anyones opinion on it, its not their choice.  Once they are born the name starts to feel natural and people dont say anything about it.  Name your baby whatever you want!

I LOVE the name! :) I have a step son with it as his middle name spelled Kayne, & we just call him by his middle name most of the time. I think its cute & if we have a son my hubby is naming our baby, there's nothing wrong with that! :)

That's exactly how I feel about it!  It's just a name, and a cool one at that, so I don't know why people make such a big deal about it!  Especially the ones who don't even follow the Bible, but want to preach it at us.  It's a common name in Ireland and means battle or warrior.  I don't know I just feel like people are trying to make me feel like an evil mom for naming my child that, but I know that's not true and I will be a good mom.  I guess I just needed to hear that it was okay and not as big of a deal as people are making it out to be, so THANK YOU ladies!  :)

But now im having the same problem with the name Ayden. He thinks its ugly and stupid. I think there both perfect and does their dad. As long as your happy ghen ignore everyone else. Its your child.

I say go for it. And if anyone gives you crap, tell them to research the meaning.

I'm a big "meaning" person for names and Kane is a really strong names that means "little battler" or "warrior"

If we were having a boy, we were naming him McKane! I love the name Kane! All that matters, is that you & your husband love it. People think my husband & I let our 3 y/o daughter McKenna Grace name her sister Montgomery Greigh, but we love it, & can't wait for her to arrive! Good luck Mama! :)

Thank you for your responses! I feel much more confident with the name now that I know there are people who feel the same way I do. It's what we want, so I'm just going to go with it & people can either learn to love it or keep their mouths shut! :)
