This is crazy..anyone else have this situation ?

I went to the doctor today.. I am 34 weeks with Identical twins... I am 4 cm dilated and 90% effaced. How much longer do you think I have? Doesn't that sound Like ALOT to be walking around dilated? I am so anxious about what is going to happen and when?!?! When I push to have a BM I feel the pressure inside where the baby's head is pushing.. The doctor said that baby A's head is really really low right where it needs to be for birth. What should I think?

Thanks so much to everyone who answered my posts... I have been contracting all day... some of them hurt pretty good but not all of them and they aren't timeable... I can literally feel baby As head pushing down when I contract and when she moves it around. I guess we will see what happens. I hope I last another week but after that I want it to come fast!!

Sounds like you have had a rough 9 months and I am sorry that it has been so hard.  I know that you are ready for it to be over and I just wanted to say that I hope everything goes ok.  It sounds like you don't have much time left and I hope you have a smooth labor and that those babies are perfect, as I am sure they will be.  Good luck.

I went into preterm labor at 19weeks - at the hospital on bedrest for 15 weeks- I was 3 to 4 cm dialated and 80% effaced from 19 to 32 weeks - they did all they could to stop labor but told me that once I hit 5cm or 35 weeks they would not stop labor.... I am not sure when you stop your progesterone shots - mine are at 37 weeks   - with my second pregnancy - (first was above) I had a cerclage- they pulled that at 35 weeks expecting him to come out before I even made it to my car - he stayed put until 39 weeks no dialation nothing..... I would think it would be sooner than later... good luck!

It really depends on the woman and the pregnancy.  The cervix can stay where it's at for weeks.  Or it could dialate at any moment.  I know this has been rough but keep in mind that even with twins you want to keep them cooking as long as possible so that when they do arrive they will be as healthy as they possibly can be.  Even 2 more weeks would mean a world of difference.  Unfortunately every pregnancy has it's down side, especially towards the end, but when you have been through as much as you have it's raelly hard to not want it to just be over and done with.  The ultimate goal is healthy babiesthat won't need much if any intervention when they are born.  Just keep taking it easy as best you can and hopefully babies will decide they are both ready to meet you very soon :)  Just remember it's almost over, the end IS in site, whether it's tomorrow or in two -three weeks.  This won't go on forever!!

I know it does sound crazy. My babies head Is extremley low...the doctor had no problem feeling her head when she checked me. I know I am almost 35 weeks and I should be wishing to keep them in 2 more weeks but I honesltey can't do it anymore... It is so hard on me...I got pregnancy photos done yesterday, I figured I better do it before my water breaks or something!!

That seems strange that labor hasnt started, Lik Sunkissed said I was also 4 cm and fully effaced and baby was in -1 station when I was in labor, and that was a single baby.. Id say u got maybe a week, giver or take a day or too.. glad that your docts have been keeping up.. Cant wait to hear about your births

I don't really know anything about your situation since im only 18 weeks with my first (single), but I was wondering if you were delivering vaginally or with a c-section? your post kind of sounds like vaginally. i was only curious because most people i know or see with twins have a c-section and i was wondering if anyone with multiples delivered vaginally.

I was 4cm and 90% with a singleton and they had to induce me because I wouldn't go on my own. However, I think  I was a rare case!! lol If that baby comes down any further I'd say you will efface to 100% and then start to dilate a lot more. I'd say anytime now!! How exciting!!!! =)

oh thank goodness lol i was really concerned there for a minute! id assume being 4 cm dilated that it wouldnt be that much longer until you go...but if you've had the steroid shots and everything else im sure the girls will be fine...plus girls do better than boys when born early. i just know that i was 4cm dilated and 90% when i was in the hospital giving birth..

Actually I just read that 50% of women pregnant with more than one tend to have them between 34-37 weeks gestation.

Well I know that when you're pregnant with twins, they're typically born earlier than a single baby would. I've also heard some doctors say that with mono twins you're considered full term at 34 weeks just because of the complications that can arise later on. So it's a possibility that you could be giving birth before too much longer.

the doctor didnt put you on bedrest? that seems kinda crazy to me if your only 34 weeks...especially with twins! i dont have any experiences with this personally but i was just curious as to why the doctor hasnt put you on bedrest or done anything else to try and keep those little girls inside of you...thats odd!
