Thoughts on Natural birth

I kind of want to have my baby all natural, no drugs unless something goes wrong, but everyone is telling me I'm crazy and that I won't be able to handle it. I'm 19 and this is my first baby. So far I'm 24 weeks as of tomorrow with a baby girl. Any thoughts?

I'm 17 and plan on having a natural birth at the hospital. My husband and MIL told me the same crap.. like you're crazy. And my MIL pissed me off because she told me.. Once you start really feeling those contractions, you're going to be begging for an epidural! Do what YOU want and what YOU think is best and though others may doubt you, don't doubt yourself.

I had a natural birth with my son (9 lbs) and it was an amazing and empowering experience. I told myself every day that I was strong and I was capable and I was stubborn and I wanted the full experience and nobody was going to take it away from me.
My midwife and I went over my birth plan ahead of time and she told the nurses in the birthing center that nobody was to offer me medication. My partner and my mom were both in the room and were very supportive - I wasn't going to let anyone near me who had a negative attitude or who would say I couldn't handle it on my own. Also I waited at home for 12 hours after my water broke before going in to be admitted because I knew it was going to be a long day and I wanted to be able to move how I wanted, do what I wanted, walk or rest or eat and learn to breathe through contractions without feeling pressure to get pitocin and hurry up the process for the convenience of someone else.
It was hard but it was incredible and totally worth it and I can't wait to do it again. Stay positive and don't let the naysayers get you down - only you know how strong you can be. Don't let anyone make you doubt yourself. You can do it!

You can do it. The only reason women don't is because they have the option of pain meds and that's easier to do. Birth is hard and I won't be taking the easy way out. You can do it.

I had my first child when I was 23. My water broke at home and by the time they checked me in the hospital it was too late to give me any meds. Everything was over with in about 2.5 hours. I didn't even need the meds. I was so focused on getting things done I don't even recall any pain. Of course my some was only 5lbs 10 ounces so maybe that helped. I also walked a lot during my entire pregnancy which I am sure helped. Now I am having another baby... 20 years later...I am almost 23 weeks along.

i went natural with my first an  plan on it again. but i never judge those who need medicine because it is a painful process. so i would plan to do it naturally but be opwn minded u never now till you are having contractions.

Each to their own. If you want to do it then give it a go, if you can't then that's fine too. Whatever suits you best.

I'm 38 weeks and I really want to go natural.  With my son I was 20 when I had him and ended up having a cesarean for no reason so I needed the epidural.  Since I'm older I know my body more and I know I can do it! Just Try to stay focused and relaxed, I know the pain isn't going to be a walk in the park but it's so much better for our bodies to have a vaginal birth than a cesarean.  It annoys me when I tell other women that I want to go natural but they all say not to do it.

I am planning on doing a water birth and not having any type of medication. I also don't want any type of unnatural interventions unless they are necessary.

I thought I could go natural this time because with my daughter the contractions hurt but they werent super bad. I was induced for medical reason this time and they broke my water when they started the pitocin. By the time I was a 6 I wanted the epidural. With my daughter, my water didnt break. So I was able to get to a 9 1/2 with my water still intact. They broke my water then. The nurse said it was because my water was broke vs not broke. She said that truly makes a huge difference. With my daughter, labor hurt but it wasnt terrible. With my son I just had, it was bad. Good luck with which ever you choose. :) I just wanted to give you my experience

I want a natural birth but I'm also going to be open to pain meds because I don't want to be in so much pain it causes stress to my baby, but id love to go natural I think I could do it.

I haven't brought anything up with my Dr yet. I go in Thursday so I was going to ask if he recommended anything or anyone. But I've thought about it. I know water birth is essential stressful for the baby too

I was 14 when I had my daughter all natural! I also handle pain very well. But it was rewarding to do it that way. And even after birth wasn't bad. I was up and walking the next day. When we got home from the hospital we even went for an hour long walk.Point I'm trying to make is u can do it if u put ur mind to it :)

Our bodies are built for birth and with the right techniques anyone is capable of handling birthing pain, that's just my opinion. Epidurals are an amazing medical advance and no doubt that some women benefit from them but if you prepare yourself for natural labor, have good birthing partners anything is possible.
