Torn apart my digital HPT

Today is 15 dpo,This morning i go a "Not Pregnant" from my digital HPT, i was sooooo disappointed, then i.......tore apart (sorry)that test want to see the strip inside of it.
AND then, i saw a very faint line on the strip, may be it's too light for the digital HPT to read? so i bought another HPT that show the 2nd line , tomorrow would like to test again.

Ashelen, I know your post is really old but you've made my night! I took the exact same type of test but I think my fiancé either bought it from rite aide or Von's...but the same type nonetheless! My reader said "not pregnant" but my strip shows a very faint positive..but still very visible. We're trying not to get our hopes up too high...especially after suffering a miscarriage this past November. I'm going to take this as hope though and test again later on in the week!!! :-)

It depends on the brand...the brand I used when I got my BFP for this pregnancy has a removable strip and a reusable reader and it does NOT detect LH....I saw a faint BFP on my digital strip when I ejected it from the reader and it turned out to be accurate (I'm over 32wks now). I had used the same brand at the end of my previous cycle as a control and there was no second line....so if you're going to use a digital I recommend the CVS brand with the reusable reader and disposable strips. But yeah most digitals do say not to read the strip inside, so like I said I think it would depend on the brand.

Digital tests also test the LH surge which is the second line that you saw. Even when not pregnant the second line will ALWAYS show. I believe if you look on the box for the test it advises that you shouldn't tear them apart because you will see the second line and that it isn't testing the same way as regular tests. I've torn many apart when I was not pregnant and saw the second line.

Your not supposed to consider the results you see on the strip when you use a digital. After my BFP with my 2nd child I took apart my digital to see what it showed and it did show two dark lines. my hcg level was only 27 at that time.

i took apart the digital i believe month before last and saw the same thing. i dont think a second line matters on those because i wasnt preg. try the answer i got my pos on it this month 5 days before my missed period!!! so i really like the answer now it was the 3rd test i took that day others where neg answer picked it up even at night!!! i did confirm it to be true so its a pretty good one. good luck. answer like 7 bucks at walmart

You are technically not supposed to ever take apart your tests. I think everyone does it once in a while. However, you can't do this to digitals. When you take them apart they almost always have a second line even when you are not pregnant. They  don't function the same way that a standard test does. There's a device in there that measures the amount of hcg and lh, and thats where it determines whether or not the test is positive.. peeonastick.com has more info on this.

It's best if you retake the test in the morning. The line you saw could very well have been an evap line that does not register.

I think that as much as we want to tear apart the digitals I am pretty sure I read somewhere not to because of the false positive. It is definitely possible that your levels aren't high enough to read just yet and definitely take a test (the line tests right?) in the morning and see if there is a difference! Good luck!
