Transvaginal ultrasound and transabdominal could see nothing

Short of the long is I'm approaching my 6th week in my first pregnancy and was referred to my local EPU because of spotting and isolated pain in my lower left side. The good news is they found nothing of concern but the bad news is they couldn't find anything... No baby... Yolk whatever. I have had bloods taken that confirm the pregnancy today and have to go back on Sunday to make sure my levels are doubling.
Is it typical to not find anything this early?

I went in at 7 weeks six days and baby and sac measured 4mm so I would have said it was to early. And the fact that you hcg is going up is a really good sign

You usually don't find anything until the 8th week.
Usually you can't even hear a heartbeat until 10+ weeks
