Trying to have a kid

Well to make a long story semi-short. I am the BF in the relationship and we are trying to have a kid.

But there is complications.

When she got her first period at the age of 12 she didn't have another one for months. Now she can go years at a time without having a menstrual cycle.

She has visited the doctor and he checked her out and has no idea. He's never seen a women go over a year without a cycle. She does have them but we never know when. It could be a month, a day, a year or even more.

Something that I personally have picked up on is that she has a lot of qualities that a man has. She doesn't really like to cuddle often and has more hair than average. So I was thinking perhaps it has something to do with her estrogen levels?

I'm not sure the doctor performed that test or not but he said her insides were fine.

On a side note when we do things for a few days afterwords she says her lower stomach hurts.. My last GF said that as well. So I'm thinking that has to do with me. But just incase..

A friend of mine has POS  too and that is what it sounded like to me..  She tried for years to get pregnant but it was hard to predict when she would ovulate because it did happen but was so irregular.  Her two sisters have it too but less severe than her and they got pregnant faster and easier than she did.

She did end up getting pregnant, but had to take two different things to end up getting pregnant.  Now her son is turning 3 and for the past 3 years she has been trying to see if she could get lucky again.

IT IS Polycystic Ovarian syndrome!

She was on birth control to try and regulate it and it did regulate it and I just read that

"Decide if you want to have children now. If not, then administration of a birth control pill with low testosterone-like effects will not only bring on regular periods but will prevent the risk of uterine cancer. If you choose to have children, then a treatment is available which will cause a period to occur within a week and then another drug, Clomid, will bring upon ovulation in a normal fashion to provide a chance to become pregnant."

Hmm i read about Polycystic Ovarian syndrome and she has almost all of the symptoms..

    * Oligomenorrhea, amenorrhea — irregular, few, or absent menstrual periods.
    * Infertility, generally resulting from chronic anovulation (lack of ovulation).
    * Hirsutism — excessive and increased body hair, typically in a male pattern affecting face, chest and legs.

   * Obesity: one in two women with PCOS are obese.
    * Depression.[4]

she has all of those only thing she doesnt have is the acne

They checked her ovaries and insides and said they were alright. He was more baffled because he's never seen someone have so irregular periods where they can go a year or two or more without one and then have one.

Well her not wanting to cuddle has nothing to do with anything, that may just be her personality.

Now you say she has more hair than average... are we talking like she needs to wax her face or what? If she has manly features this sounds like a hormone imbalance and not estrogen. She should see her General practitioner who should perform some hormone tests. In which case if her hormones are out of wack a endocrinologist is one person she may need to see.

As far as not having a period and her doctor not knowing why.... She needs a new doctor. Some women have something called PCOS, Polycystic Ovarian syndrome. This can make their periods sparatic. It requires medication to treat. There are many other reasons why a women may not ovulate normally, most can be treated with medicine. She needs a new Gynecologist who is intelligent enough to know about these very COMMON things.
