Thanks so much for all your advice, i really appreciate everyone taking the time to answer my question. You've been a great help!
Hi,
I took diclectin during my pregnancies to relieve the nausea, it can also make you sleepy. Have you tried this?
They actually just changed the recommended max daily dosage for acetaminophen to 3000mg a day not 4000mg a day...pharmacists are now recommending this but a lot of doctor's haven't caught up. However...4000mg a day isn't going to kill you as long as you don't do it every day for a year or anything lol.
I personally would avoid taking tylenol Pm until the second trimester, but talk to your OB or pharmacist they will probably OK it once in awhile.
my doctor told me regular tylenol up to 8 500mg which is 4000mg a day. call a pharmasist and ask they can tell you too
THis is a really really critical time in your pregnancy so dont take anything without getting clearance from your doctor if you are unsure, even if it means making a special appointment or calling....
I would speak to your doctor about it... Tylenol PM is no the same as tylenol.. and my doctor has always said that regular strength (250MG) tablets are okay to take .... but even then they dont recommend that you pop back 2-3 at a time... If you are having trouble sleeping due to nausea bring this up to your doctor asap....
I'm 20 wks prego & still very nauseas... I was prescribed zofran by my doc to help! Ask ur doc about this... it is much safer than taking ty pm ;)
4000 mg a day is not safe for pregnant women that's like taking 8 extra strength tylenols in a day. That's not even safe if your not pregnant I think the max in a day is 4 if not. My doctor told me not more than 500 mg a day. I would check with your doctor because the sleep aid in tylenol pm may not be safe while pregnant. I would try benadryl instead.
You want to use any medicine as sparingly as possible while pregnant-- even though Tylenol is safe, you don't want to use it frequently. If you have trouble sleeping due to nausea, you can also speak to your doctor about an anti-nausea medicine as well as try homeopathic remedies. Tea, lemon and water, hard candies, crackers (or keeping food in your belly at all times, regardless of amount) etc etc.
You can also take benadryl Since it's the same thing without pain reliever. Taking Tylenol chronically is hard on your liver preg or not.
You can take up to 4,000 mg a day of it. Tylenol is my best friend nowadays
