Unusual gestational sac shape

I have PCOS. Recently dicovered that I am pregnant. Due to cramping and light bleeding, my doctor has been monitoring my pregnancy closely. I had an ultrasound at 7 weeks and everything appeared to be "normal". However, yesterday I was made aware of the fact that my baby's gestational sac is unusually shaped. It appeared to be sectonal. From certain angles it appeared to look like two sacs. I was told they would monitor the situation and see me again in 2 weeks for a repeat ultrasound and consultation. The tech told me in her 30 years of doing this she has never seen this before.

Is this normal? Should I be alarmed? Should i get a second opinion?

At my ultrasound today I was dated as 11 week 5 days. My unusually shaped gestational sac (looked like i have two sacs developing) is now attributed to a uterine adhesion. My doctor said the adhesion is large and the concern now is if the baby were to put an appendage (or itself) into the adhesion it could cause growth retardation and even fetal demise.

Does anyone have a history of uterine adhesions (scars)? Has anyone had a successful pregnancy despite the adhesion?

Yes they are measuring the pregnancy. They say everything else looks and appears to be normal and growing at a regular rate.

I asked that. Actually when she first pulled it onto the screen I thought it was twins! But she said it was not. Then she compared it to my first ultrasound (which had one completely round sac with baby floating in it) and said that if this were twins (or supposed to be) we would have already seen signs of it.

I wonder if it is possible it was originally twins and you lost the one twin( bleeding and cramping) and the two sacs just kind of joined each other. Just try to relax your baby looks really healthy from the pictures. I hope all works out and your Dr is able to give you answers soon.
