I would love to. But it's not legal where I am unfortunately.

I know the ductus doesn't close until after the first breath, its just if baby takes that breath in the water that's dangerous. During a vaginal delivery all liquid is expelled out from babies lungs while they are passing through the birth canal. That's why sectioned babies tend to need a little more suctioning. Although it may be small, there is still some risk involved.

I love watching them. If I could have one I totally would.

I tried with my first but was having serious temperature fluctuations so I was freezing even in the nice warm tub and just wanted to get out and get dry and under a blanket - but I got my natural birth which was the most important part and still totally amazing. I plan to try again next time though.
The ductus doesn't close until baby takes its first breath of air... drowning/aspiration don't happen. It's very safe and very peaceful and a huge help with pain control and a mother's ownership of her birthing experience.

Done it! And highly recommend it :) I loved the weightlessness of floating in between contractions. Plus you can get into the most comfortable position for delivery. Good luck momma!

I think it would be an amazing idea! I've watched water births online & it is really is neat. But, I'm gonna stick with the hospital bed & epidural lol

I know the hospital where I'll be delivering at doesn't have water births ill be only allowed in the tub until it's time to push then I have to get out. They don't have the round tubs so thats why id have to get out.

The only risk is if you aren't quick enough to get baby out of the water. If you deliver and baby happens to take a breath they could aspirate.

I am having a home water birth.  The baby is in water already so its not like they will drown. I really have never heard any risks about water births...I think its less stressful for the baby and it also helps not to tear.
