Will bub be harmed?

I miscarried in January and got pregnant straight away.  I went to doc last week (should have been 6 1/2 wks) and was no fetol pole.  I had a few beers on Easter (Sunday just gone), as there was no baby then got a shocking virus and am now on antibiotics... I went back to doc ysterday and there is a faint heartbeat..   I 'm so scared will my baby be ok am on amoxcycillion???

I can't remember the name of the site because I just randomly serch for it every now and then but if you type in a drug and put 'side effects' or 'in pregnancy' it brings up some directry listing all the leaflets that you get in the boxes. Then it has details of studies done if at all on pregnant women.

Just think of all those people who don't stop doing things during pregnancy and their babies are fine.

i went for another ultrasound today and there is definately a heartbeat.  I think i'm just tripping because i lost my daughter to sids and then had a miscarriage and now i'm pregnant and beside myself.

amoxicillin is category B:

Category B
Most antibiotics are Category B, which means that there is no known association with birth defects or other pregnancy-related complication and the drug is probably safe.

Either your dates are wrong, or you are having a pregnancy like my last one, where there was progress, but not at the right speed. First there was no heartbeat. Then there was a heartbeat but baby not measuring right for my dates. Then at 9 weeks only measured 6 and a half and no heart beat. Had D&C a few days later.

Dont worry about the anti-biotics or beer. Get another ultrasound in 1 week and check for growth or increased heartrate. Also possible that they have faintly detected your heartbeat. That happens occasionally. Have you spotted at all?

As long as your doctor says that its okay to take amoxcycillion during your pregnancy then it should be okay. All doctors say different things about different drugs during pregnancy so all anyone can really do is give their opinion on it. As for getting pregnant again right away it should be fine. I got pregnant within 6 weeks of my miscarriage and now my daughter is 3 months old. Having one miscarriage doesn't make it more likely that you'll have another and a lot of people don't see a heartbeat until around 8 weeks and because you saw one that makes the chance of miscarriage go down a lot.
