Worried About Health (Trying to Conceive)

Hi - several years ago I was hospitalized for overdosing on aspirin and sleeping pills. I've been healing ever since emotionally but I do not know if physically I am healthy enough yet to conceive a child. I'm hoping someone will know whether or not that kind of damage will have healed by now. Thank-you!

Thank you very much! All of you have been a great help - I feel relieved knowing some of you either have been in the same situation or have known someone and been able to conceive. I will definitely set up an OBGYN appt just to make absolute sure.
Thank you, Thank you! ^_^

i overdosed on tylenol when i was about 17.. i took almost a whole bottle. i was put in the hospital for a week. they transfered me from the ER my mom took me to to the ICU at childrens. i almost lost my liver and possibly my life.
anyways i got pregnant when i was 19... everything was fine. to be honest its a very personal subject and not something i talk about often. i didn't even tell my doctor. there were no complications that arose due to that.
only thing i experience now is nausea pretty bad when i drink alcohol. and i mean before im even drunk im nauseous. i think its related to my overdose... my liver just isn't as healthy.

anways i think you'll be fine!! mention it to your doctor but i wouldn't worry too much about it

I would definitely speak with your doctor, they can tell you better than anyone else can if everything is in working order to ttc. But in my own opinion, yes. When I was younger, a woman I went to church with at the time overdosed on aspirin. About a month or two later, she was pregnant and has a healthy beautiful child now.

Hi:-) I'm sorry you went through that and I'm happy to see you are working through it. I think you should be good if you want to TTC. My advice is make an appt with your OBGYN. Maybe have a thorough check up and then speak to him/her about how you move forward in TTC. Only your OBGYN will be able to guide you medically and advise you if your body is ready to carry. IMO I think you are:-) Good luck and definitely keep us updated on your progress
