Yeast Infection, YUCK!!! =(

OK so I have my very fist Yeast Infection of my whole life and I am 30 years old and 17w4d pregnant.  Everyone blames it on my tight pants.  OK, so I understand that you should NOT wear tight pants while you are pregnant but I've worn tight pants like my whole adult life!!  My doc says it's because of the extra vaginal discharge from being pregnant that keeps the moisture down there, on top of wearing tight pants.  I've gained like 13 pds and I am not really showing yet.. it's not that I don't want to wear maternity clothes... it's just too early and I can't afford it right now... so I guess I'm stuck with buying the Wal-Mart jogging suites for $10.00 each... $5.00 for the shirt and $5.00 for the pants.  This really depresses me.  I have NEVER been more uncomfortable in my whole life... it ITCHES like hell.

Does anyone have any suggestion on preventing this in the future?  I will not wear the tight pants and I've just bought some cotton boxer brief like panties for more support and to cover up my extra large BUTT that I've grown over night.  I've heard and read that eating yogurt will help prevent it.  What about wearing a panty liner, will that make it worse or help?  I have a lot of discharge lately.  When the nurse asked me if it were "cottage chesse" I got really grossed out.  It's not like that.. well not right now but my mom says if it's left untreated it will get worse.  She actually said she used plain yogurt down there... YUCK!!  Boy this all sucks!

Hey!! I would just eat lots of yougurt DO NOT put it into your vagina!!!! Don't use feminine wash either. Your vagina has normal flora (normal bacteria) to keep the vagina from getting infections and keeps bacteria at a minimum, washing the flora out can cause a nasty infection. Also, it's important to ask your dr. to treat your husband too.. b/c you'll just keep passing it ot eachoher!! Good luck!! P.S. I just went to the Dr.. cuz i suspected one.. i've never had one b/f I'm 30 wks preg..... not fun! good luck ;-)

When I was pregnant I got one yeast infection and once that happened I never got another one. I was told it was from wearing tight pants too and the extra discharge doesnt help. So I wore looser pants and panty liners all the time. I never have tried the whole yogurt thing, but I have heard of it, because of the natural bacteria cultures, they help kill the bacteria in a yeast infection. Anyways, I would just try the looser pants and panty liners. I hope it gets better quick, because they totally suck!! Especially when you are pregnant... as if you aren't uncomfortable enough to begin with!!

I get a lot of yeast infections while pregnant so I know your pain.  Infact with my last pregnancy I made a joke to my Dr. saying that I'm allergic to my husband while I'm pregnant.  Everytime we were intimate, I'd get an infection it seemed like.  You already have added moisture while being pregnant like you Dr. said but then add sex on top of that and OMGoodness.  So one of the things I did was I would of course take a shower before work but when I'd get home, I'd get in the bath tub just to wash off down there.  I also don't use regular soap down there.  I use the feminine wash.  Monistat makes it and it's hypoallergenic and I get the nonscented kind.  Oh, and eat the yogurt also.  It helps the good bacteria grow.  My nurse once told me that there is no better place for bacteria to grow than our vaginas.  YUCK!!  She said, "Where does bacteria like to grow?  Bacteria likes to grow in moist, damp, dark places".  Of course that describes our private part to a T!!!!  I hope my suggestions help.  It did help me.  I must have had at least 4 yeast infections with this last pregnancy.  Oh, and antibiotics also make you more prone to the yeast infections because their purpose is to kill bacteria.  Take care and good luck with this.  I feel for you!!

I'm not so sure about eating the yogurt but I was told by a female dr that dipping a tampon in natural yogurt and inserting it works! Probably not the nicest thing to do anytime never mind actually being safe during pregnancy!
