I'll be going on nuvaring within this next week. I love it because you can even have it out for a few hours and it be effective.

It's got low doses of hormones and since it's closer to the uterus it doesn't need the higher amts. It's easy to insert and remove and if you choose to skip a period you can just put a new ring in rather than wait a week.

I've taken 4 different pills, I've used the patch, and I've used the shot....I got pregnant and miscarried while on one of the pills (can't remember which one). After my son's born, they're going to place a copper IUD most likely....either copper or mirena. I'm not thrilled about everything I've read about them, but apparently I'm super-fertile (conceived one baby while on birth control, taking it regularly at the same time every day, never missed a pill (i wrote down on a chart every time I took it and I only ever varied by about 10 minutes each day), no antibiotics..and concieved the other two immediately after stopping the pill and the first cycle trying....) so I can't afford NOT to use something effective, lol...

I guess it depends on how fertile you are. We probably should use a condom along with whatever BC we choose, but I don't know if we will....it'll depend on a lot of things. 18 months post-partum and I still can't use a condom because it rubs on my tear-scar and hurts, no matter how much lube we use...so idk if we will after Grey is born.

I used the birth control pill and made sure to take it at the same time every day etc to ensure it would work the best. Although I have heard of many ppl who get preg while on the pill, this was not the case for us. If you want added protection with the pill then combining it with a condom and pull out will be effective too.... although I do not trust pull out at all...but with the pill combined it could not hurt. Good Luck!

Well, I think I'm going to use some sort of pill.  I was on birth control when I got pregnant, NUVA-RING..  It definitely didn't work.  I was using it correctly..  I guess I'm just super fertile. lol.  I was on it for about 2-3 months when it happened...

Hey when I was on my last birth control method it was the nuva ring. A good friend of mine used it when it first came out and it was completely effective. I absolutely loved it. It actually made my PMS symptoms a lot less worse! It is a flexible ring that you put it in for 3 weeks and then take it out have a period....7 days later you put a new one back in. Easy Peezy! Even after I went off of the ring my periods were still right on time! I absolutely loved it. I was also on Ortho Tri Cyclen for 3.5 years when I was younger but since I have a blood clotting disorder so the pill is no longer an option for me =) The ring is so much easier because you don't have to remember to take the pill every day!
