baby #2

Anyone else have a premature child them have a full turn baby? My first was born at 31 1/2weeks and did fine, but we are pregnant with #2 and are so afraid of losing this one, or going early again. I should mention I am also a type 1 diabetic.

I gave birth with my 1st at 34wks. First appt I went to, to c my ob she told me about a shot that would help prevent premature delivery again. So im now takin it wkly. They start it around 15wks till 36wks. Im surprised ur dr didnt inform u. I also took more u/s this pregnancy bcuz I guess im considered high risk. I totally kno how u feel im glad with technology they have preventive shots. Good luck hun! Im currently 17+6.

I may be wrong, but I think that diabetes does put you at risk of preterm, one of my friends had gestational diabetes and they did expect baby to arrive early (he was only a week early in the end) but I'm not too sure how that compares with you having diabetes normally. I'm sure you will be carefully monitered and maybe baby will be prepared early with steroid injections to help prevent any problems which may come from being premature. You are probably best to speak to your doctor /midwife who will know if your other early arrival had any relation to your diabetes and the likelyhood of it happening again. Best of luck to you, I hope it all goes well.
