bassinet/play yard combo

I'm 30 weeks pregnant and a FTM. I don't want to put my son in a crib right after he's born because I've heard to many stories about SIDS and I'm just not taking the risk. I want to put him in a bassinet at least for the first 2-3 months. I had recently received a bassinet/play yard combo from my boyfriends sister. My question is, is it safe to use that as a bassinet or would it be better to go ahead and get a bassinet by itself?

I have a pack n play with an actual bassinet on top as well .. itll work just as well

I feel the same way about the crib so i put something on my registery I can use that's like a bassinet and I have a pack and play ima have available to use as well w a snuggle section and changing area.

Im using a pack n play that has a changing station and a infant snuggler for a lil while.  Bassinet only wOrks for so long so I'd go with pack n play

Is it like the Graco pack n play? It works like a basinet then turns into a play pen. My mom is comfortable with me using it for a few months before moving up to a crib.
