best spot for car seat?

I have been reading that the middle is the best spot for a car seat but when I was growing up my mom and sisters and brothers always put the car seat behind the passenger or drive seat. So what is your opinion?

Middle is safest. If in a car wreck the baby will be safer in the middle.

The middle is the safest spot, never behind the driver or passanger seats. Reason, when in the middle if someone crashes dead on the passanger or driverside the baby is less likey to get severely injured

Ok because we were thinking of putting it behind the drivers seat but we were not 100% sure.

Middle but this can make it difficult. The second best is the passenger side.

I'm putting my babys car seat in the middle so she can feel the a/c or heater when needed. People put it behind passenger or drivers seat so its easier for them to put it in and get it out.

Middle. Even the car seat booklet that came with my car seat said the middle is the best and behind the driver is the second best.
