We Will Be Teaching Our Daughter Both Languages. My First Language Is English, But I Also Speak Spanish. My boyfriend's First Language Is Spanish And He Is Learning English. Most Children Will Mix Up The Languages At First, But They Are More Likely To Be Fluent If They Learn At A Young Age.
teach my kids two languages as well... me and my husband both speak both languages fluently so I wanted my kids to be the same, I spoke to them in one language and my husband spoke to them in the other language, so they learned both languages from us, and they speak them fluently....
I dont believe that they will have an accent just because they speak spanish first that might be determined by something else I have four nieces who learned spanish first then english in school they speak perfect english and spanish no accent and I was in school in mexico from kindergarden to third grade no english whatsoever spanish speaking parents and I speak english with no accent so does my brother many people dont even believe english was my secind language...
My brother being the macho Mexican had all 4 of his kids learn Spanish first then when learning English they had this horrible accent that they still cannot entirely get rid of. So when my sister had her 3 she did it the other way english first and tada no accent but now speak 4 different language's perfectly. I agree on english being fist but to each his own!
I am Italian and my fiance is from Guatemala. We are playing on teaching our daughter multiple languages. We have a friend who works for a daycare and they teach them both at the same time. So she will learn english and Spanish at first than Italian followed by german. She will be confused at first but will learn how to tell them apart.

My nephew is four now and he speaks both. He knows the difference too. Just yesterday he was telling me in english its party and in spanish its fiesta lol . He does the same with counting till ten. We just spoke both to him. Thats what i plan on doing with my son.
My first language was spanish and I learned english because of school and my oldest brother. Just because a child learns spanish first doesn't mean they'll have an accent. I speak fluent spanish & english & plan to teach my daughter both languages =)
I meant that's how everybody learned english n that's wen they started school
I'm the same except all my family speaks spanish his are americanized meaning they all are mexicans but speak english. My SIL kids are only spoken to in english n well that's wat they know yea they are hispanic bt they don't know the language bcz they aren't spoken to or are around it. N well my daughter she's around spanish n we speak to her in spanish n she knows spanish n english she pretty much speaks spanglish. Regardlesss. if ure child is taught spanish first they'll know it. N once school starts they'll learn english in schoo they'll learn it super quick cz I know that's how everybody on my side learned Spanish is our first language but english we learned it quick once we started school
I'm like that we talk to my son in Spanish he learn it super fast when he goes to school. He mostly hears Spanish I sometimes talk to him in English
If you don't mind him having an accent then go that route but if you do then English first and then Spanish my daughter is finding it easier that way. Good luck hun
