Whose all the pink ...are you getting the baby's ears pierced and how long will you wait before you do it

I'm getting them done the same day she's here. They don't feel pain yet, so i prefer to do them now than later when she's crying & can actually feel pain.

I'm taking my daughter to get her done around two months and I'll go to a doctor that does them...and if she choose to take them out when she gets older she can :)

I have a one year old and although before I wanted to get her ears pierced I chose NOT to for two reasons
1) Mine were done as a baby and one of the holes from my piercing is not position correctly in the middle and looks disproportional and I HATE that
2)One of my nieces doesnt even like wearing earrings and resists on wearing any so I believe its personal choice of theirs

but I mostly do it because I hate that one of my ear's hole was not done well.

We're getting our daughter's ears pierced probably around 3-4 months.

Baby girl and I won't get  them done until she asks for them. I'm not against it, but my body doesn't react well to metal. When I got mine done at 11 years old I got them done with gold and they never healed, were always infected. I don't want to deal with that issue with my baby lol.

@Violet - Piercing guns (which are what is usually used on infants instead of needles even though they are more painful and more traumatic to the surrounding tissue) remove flesh. They slice out tubes of skin. Which cannot and will not grow back. Yes it is permanent. The scarring is permanent, the removal of tissue is permanent. The hole can close up over time but that doesn't mean the tissue is repaired. We weren't talking about tattoos - I don't care if it's "less" of a cosmetic alteration, it's still a permanent change to my child's body that they didn't ask for. How am I supposed to teach my children about bodily autonomy and personal choices if I make choices like that for them? That's not my decision - it's not my body.

I'm having a girl and getting then done as soon as she can have them done. I think its a parents decision to wait or to go a head and do it. I mean boys get circumsized, what if they Dont want that? ppl can look at it every way, but its ultamitly up to the parents to decide. it doesn't make a bad mom or a good mom! everyone is different

@GeekMom1213 "a permanent cosmetic alteration"? Seriously? Since when is a piercing "permanent"? It can be taken out and heal, therefore it is NOT permanent. A tattoo is more of a permanent cosmetic than a piercing.

I got my daughter's done at 2 months and plan on getting this baby girl's pierced too. I think it's better to get them young so they're not pulling on them. My daughter is now 19 months old and doesn't even know they're there. No pulling or playing with them, she's had them for so long it's like they're a part of her lol

Having a girl, but will wait until she asks for them like I did. I'm allergic to metal and fake silver, wouldn't want to her to get a reaction if shes the same. Also, its to much of a hassle to care for an infant already, why make more work for yourself? Thats my opinion.

OK I was going at two months but three sounds better and everyone seems to agree my baby girl is gorgeous either way but ear piercing isn't that harsh and you will have really walk up on a person either way to see the ear holes but as far as chemicals in her hair or anything like that I won't do she can choose to not wear ear rings but will have to start over drastically with that

Any links or studies to back up that "scientific" reason, anujanu? Sounds pretty unlikely to me.
If my children want pierced ears when they're old enough to make the decision, I'll allow it. But I'm not making that decision - a permanent cosmetic alteration? Without their consent? Nope.

I am having a boy..and planned to gt it done to him by three months..its a custmery in our culture.. The scientific reason is wht I believe in tht it acts as acupuncture and helps baby learn speech soon and flawless
