breast milk, ftm.

I just had my baby 3 days ago & I want to breast feed but I have no milk I try putting him to suck but he doesn't. How can I make my milk come in or will I not have any?

You need to be pumping for 15 minutes every 3 hours, every 4 at night. Your baby will eat when he's hungry... just be patient. Remember their tummies are super tiny when they're new so they don't need much. Try pinching the skin around your nipple and putting it in your baby's mouth. That will give him something to grab onto. Stick with it! Once you get the hang of it you'll be happy you don't have to mix up bottles at 2 am and 4 am and 6 am... haha. A good lactation lady can help too :)

You might still have colostrum im not 100% sure about that but its worth a try if you really want to breastfeed. And I would try to get in touch with a lactation consultant.

No he didn't latch on at the hospital either so if I try getting my milk out with the breast pump you think some will come out because I know they say if you have milk in your boobs they get hard or feel full but mine feel the same as they did before

And after that I breastfed for 14 months.

I had the same problem. I had to pump and put what I pumped in formula until my milk came in. But before every bottle I made sure I tried to have her latch first. When my milk came on almost a week after birth then she ate.

Three days was always the day for me.

It does seem like you need help getting him to latch on,  though - you should be producing colostrum and he should have a high drive to eat.

Was he latching on okay in the hospital?
