my first c-section was also an emergency but i wasn't put to sleep (although it was really hard for me to stay awake).  may i ask what kind of complication made it be an emergency?  my baby was face up on my pelvic bone and they said pushing would put too much strain on her neck so they did a c-section.

i have had both kinds of births. i had a c section and natural. i personally think natural is way better. you can get up and move around within a day or so. you feel better, and you get to experience the baby moving through you. its amazing. when i had my csection, i was put to sleep because it was an emergency, and i wasn't the first to see my baby. my entire family got to pass him around before i recovered from surgery. plus i couln't get up to get him when he cried or anything because i was so sore for days. on the other hand, with twins is a whole nother ballgame. we have to do what is the safest for our babies and ourselves. if the dr says the babies are in the right possition and there are no complications, i would try natural, but if they are breech or twisted, then c section is definitiely the way to go. it is up to you entirely. whatever you choose, good luck and congrats.

no i was not (any of the times).  i had anesthesia (spelling?) to numb you from the waist down.  you can't feel anything.  they want you to stay awake.

i've never had natural labor but i have had 3 c-sections.  yes, you are sore afterwards but it doesn't last forever!  i would say you are definately the most sore while still in the hospital.  they want you to get up and move around the next day after delivery b/c its supposed to help you recover faster (just don't over do it!)  once you get home it will probably last for a couple more days but by the end of the week you should be able to stand up straight again!  sorry, i saw your other post but couldn't answer b/c my babies needed me!!!  good luck!
