Have you tried very small meals/snacks? This fall, I got to the point I couldn't eat more than a few bites at a time, so I would do just that - a few bites every hour or so. My students thought I was nuts! :) I found "heavy foods" like starches and protein settled the best.
If you can't even keep liquids down, speak with your doctor as s/he can prescribe an anti-nausea med like zofran or might even suggest hospitalization if you're getting dehydrated.
Saltines always have helped me during my pregnancies, try eating em first thing before you even step out of bed. Old wives tales do still pull through!
Canada Dry ginger ale and crackers was my savior for awhile. Eat anything that will stay down, for some reason wheat bread (my normal bread) made me throw up but I could eat french bread, and fruit. Like Steph says, eat very small meals and try to stay hydrated. Some people say brushing your teeth a little later in the morning as opposed to when you first wake up will help, and taking your prenatals at night helps you keep them down.
The prescription the doc gives you is safe for the baby, so if you're really having trouble definitely talk to your OB.
the best thing to do is try ginger. giner beer or ale. also papayas :)
Ok i hear all the suggestions and some of them worked for me for baby #1 but this baby #2 is COMPLETELY different. I can't eat fruit, drink nothing but ice cold water and i have to allow my stomach to get completely empty b4 my next meal or i won't be able to keep it down. With my first i just had severe nausea but it was still to the point where i lost 11 lbs in my first trimester. With this one i tried all the same tricks as i did with the first and absolutely NONE of them worked this time. Before i would eat sour candies or drink lemon water or made homemade ginger lemon tea. This time i cant keep down ginger ale or sprite or juice. I eat around every 3 to 4 hrs and drink as much ice water as i can. I have bad acid reflux so i have that horrible taste in my mouth. Also i chew alot of sugarfree spearamint gum. U have to try what works for u.
I was going through that too with this pregnancy and my doctor's nurse said to try 1 B6 pill with half of a Unisom in the morning when I wake up & at night before going to bed. She said they are both perfectly safe to take while pregnant & available over the counter & what they would to is coat my stomach & prevent the foods I ate from upsetting my stomach & leading to vomiting. Good luck I know it isn't fun.
If you can't really keep anything down then you maybe suffering from Hyperamesis- morning sickness that is 24/7 and it really is awful- I had it for 4weeks with my pregnancy before I couldn't take it anymore- I went to the Doctor- got prescribed anti-sickness tablets- and the sickness stopped within 24hours!! x
