Do any of y'all have any cats? I know that people say the cat can smell the milk on the baby and could suffocate the baby? My cat only likes me when I sit he sits with me when I lay down he's coming to. He's a great cat and I would hate to get rid of him!

If a baby crys cats will try to comfort baby by laying beside them or on there chest,  they don't just go around suffocating baby's.. I have 2 but since I got pregnant they don't lay on me anymore(they used to sleep on my stomach before), I guess it's personal preferances but cats just like dogs are calmer when a new baby comes(as long as there tame)

I have 3 cats and was raised around them. The only thing that scares me is when baby starts crawling and could get into the cat litter 0.0

I've had him since a kitten, he's a rescue :( you ever seen a cat that doesn't use a litter box? My cat doesn't he meows at the door until I open it does his business then comes back inside. He's like a dog haha. His name is Goofy. :) thanks ladies for your input. Hope all works out and we can keep him.

My mom always said that too.  I was also worried I would have to get rid of my cat because he is part of the family.  I just watched him and he didn't pay any attention to the baby.  Just when she cried he would go to her and then look at me as if I was taking too long quieting the noise lol...he is still here and is already garding the babys room awaiting the new arrival in eight weeks.( he thinks he is a dog lol)

Yeah its pretty much a wait and see thing. I'm going to have the crib put up tomorrow and we will see if he tries to jump in it. He's fat and lazy sleeps most of the time. so we will see.

I have a 5 week old and 2 cats and they don't go around him maybe once in a great while. Just depends on the kitty and the age I think. Mine are about a year and a half. They slept in crib before he was here and we'd catch them and chase them out, but now that there is a screaming crying kid in it they don't want to anymore lol

they do like formula just be careful.   I have two kittens now that are trying to sleep in all the babies furniture so we are trying to teach them to stay away.  I had a cat with my daughter and I couldn't walk away from a bottle without it chewing the nipples on the bottle apart.  worst comes worst its my baby over any animal.  if I notice the kitten is going to put my baby in jeopardy I will be rehoming.  its sad but it might need to be done andyou wwon't know until bubs comes

Cats have been known to smell milk on babies breath and lay on their faces suffocating them. Everything is preventable. Always check in on baby when sleeping and train your cat not to jump up on baby. Shut your babies door when sleeping so the cat can't go in the room. No need to get rid of your cat. Common sense can prevent any accidents from happening.
