checking your own cervix?

I'm only 32 weeks and 5 days but I've had what I think to be false labor twice. Now she's dropped and I'm starting to get some cramping pains down there. I have an appointment with my gyno tomorrow but I see some ladies are checking if they're dilated themselves. Do I just stick my fingers up there...?

Ok, number one...Generally speaking you can feel your own cervix and you have every right to seeing as it's your body. However,  I wouldn't for a few reasons. Obviously you're not going to stick a filthy hand up there, but there is latent bacteria underneath fingernails and the like.  Since you're 32/33 weeks, I mean...unless.you're having signs of impending labor-there really isn't a pressing need to know if.you're dilated or not. IF you are dilated...messing wirh it may cause further cervical changes. I wouldn't. .. but again it's your choice :)

It's physically impossible to check yourself and it can cause lots of problems and sometimes major infections to even try.
