circumsize

Sorry I know there was the same topic asked about a few hours ago but I was also curious about it. I'm having a boy this time and my whole family is full of girls so nobody in my family can help me. What are the advantages and disadvantages for getting my son circumsized or not?

I'm having my son circumcised because that's how my family is...I don't appreciate people saying I'm a bad mother for it I would never say someone is a bad parent for any reasons or religions. If u were raised that u should circumsise then do it if u weren't then don't. I do know if u were raised not to then u know how to keep it cleaned and whatever. I don't cause hey I'm a women I don't have a penis and I will be caring for my child cause hubby works and I have never seen a penis that is not circumcised so I'm not taking a risk on my child.

I think really everyone is going to have an opinion. You will know whats best for your little one. As do all these mothers. I personally will have my child cirumsized if the baby is a boy. For my own personal reasons, beliefs, and my understandings.

Lol you guys act like we are brutally beating an infant child. My son will be circumcised. I completely agree with ktowne no one is talking down to you guys why should you be talking down to us?? Men DO get infections from it it's not rare and unheard of. It happens A LOT more often than any of you think. YOU guys need to educate YOURSELVES lol. Just cause its not a problem in "your" family doesn't mean its not going to be a problem in another family.....

I just heard about a 60 year old man that just had it done because he has started having problems with infections. The dr suggested he do it.

Medicaid covers it, and it's not considered cosmetic here, I don't know if it's just youtube videos or what you're gathering your information from, but my son was NOT strapped to a table and "sliced away" he was laid on a table and his arms were held down, just the same with blood work and any other test. I am a very good mother, and wouldn't do anything I thought was "brutal" to my son, he lived, he doesn't remember it, not even for 10 minutes. I think a lot of us suggesting to get circumcisions aren't down talking anyone who didn't get their child circumcised, so the same respect should be shown.

This is such a controversal topic.. there is not reason to circumsize and most insurances do not cover it by the way because it is considered a cosmetic proceedure so if you do check with your insurance first. Also i higgly advise you google or youtube it and watch an actual video of one on a newborn. They strap them to a table and slice away with NO ANESTHESIA. Just some things to think about. ultimately you need to do what you think is right but animals all have the sheeth on the penis and they do not get infected and neither typically do humans and either way what ever you believe in it is in our instincts of survival to reproduce and something would not be given to us if it was going to risk our own survival and the process of reproduction.

My son is not and neither is my husband foreskin is not a birth defect and no one should cut any part of there newborn baby like that. Foreskin is there for a reason... I know many people believe in it but both our families never circumcised and there was never an issue. In the end it's a personal decision i know I wouldn't want my parents to cut part of me to save on cleaning time... Wholenetwork has a lot of information. Make the right choice for your son do your own research educate yourself on circumsision.

My son is 11 and not circumcized I taught him how to pull the skin back to clean his penis. He has never had an infection. So far so good. It's a give or take he just have to clean himself very well at all times

Not all doctors do it before you leave the hospital, mine didn't. I think it depends. The doctor that delivered my son offered to do it, but he likes them to be between 2-4 Weeks old so they fit the tools. I live in sacramento California and it was $150

My 8 yr old is not circumcised, none of my partners have ever been circumcised, my brother and dad are not circumcised (it is not done in this country except for religious reasons) and NONE of them have ever suffered from the horror stories I have seen written on this site. A boy need no more cleaning than a girl...would you circumcise your daughter? Its not for me to say or influence you, that is a totally personal decision for you to make, but if you are unsure, please do some research on countries who do not circumsise as a matter of routine and look at infection rates etc...they are no higher than in countries who do. Make the decision for yourself, it is entirely your decision as a mother and I for one would not judge you either way x

Lovelyglover, my doctor asked me about 2 weeks before I had him, then again after labor, and they will just take him to a separate room, and the OB will circumcise him, and bring him back. You can also just bring it up to him!
