crazy heartburn!! anyone else with the same prob?

Im 23 weeks, and i'm having crazy heartburn..how often is it okay to take over the counter heartburn medication?? Can't even sleep :(

My OB told me to take Prilosec OTC every night before bed or I'm miserable and can't sleep, it's worked wonders for me, I've been on it for almost 9 weeks now and I'm 32 weeks

I'm a big sufferer from heartburn.. have been from 20 weeks and i'm now 32 & a half. I told my midwife and they prescribed me some gaviscon. They can give you either the tablets or the liquid depending on what you prefer. Gaviscon is my best friend during this pregnancy. Only thing that gets rid in my eyes :) x

I think you can take it daily but you have to ask doc what kind.
But after yoy eat drink lots of water and keep yourself partially propped up. And avoid acidic things like soda, orange juice, sometimes even grape juice is bad. But if you are craving simetging acidic make sure to eat something like crackers or breaf to help absorb it. Oh and also no spicy things.
I made the mistake of eating something spicy that I was craving and I had to "burp" and it was like helll in my throat for over an hour. But yeah if you avoid acid and hot things and drink water and milk you might be able to stop it without having to take those nasty pills
