I wouldn't risk it. I've heard stories where women have had as little as a single drink and their baby ended up with fetal alcohol syndrome. Also a glass of wine is only 4oz not the whole glass like some people think.

Why take the risk! I wouldn't compromise the health if my baby. I'm a big wine drinker myself but went cold turkey as soon as I found out I am preggo. Find other fruity drinks to compromise like non alchoholic drinks, flavored lemonades. I like to order a shirley temple drink  whenever I'm hangin out socially ..gives u the look and sweetness of a drink w/o the alcohol...

Thanks guys , I was just wondering because I was considering having a glass on my baby shower.  It will be my first glass of wine for my entire pregnancy , I'm just a little scared. Thanks again ! I still haven't decided if I will or will not have a drink

Really because my doctor said it was ok, moderation is key one glass of wine every now and then is perfectly fine and doesn't effect the baby.  Nothing is technically proven safe or unsafe during pregnancy because its "inhumane" to test the effects of things like medication, drugs, alcohol ect on an expectant mother. Thats what my doc told me. Most everything is a precaution and some people have noticed effects in the baby after born due to certain things. Most is common sense, your not going to drink a bottle of jack and go get waisted on the weekends while pregnant. But moderation is key.

Not any doctor will tell you that. I just had a discussion with mine about how many people feel it's ok & she said it is true red wine does have many good antioxidents in it however the risk from the alcohol out weighs anything good in it. Plus the "good" things in it can be found in other healthy foods.

Yes you can. Ask any Dr and they will tell you. Some say once a week is fine. But that seems too much to me, maybe one glass a month. And wouldn't do more then one glass in one day

Some say you can, but no amount of alcohol is proven safe during pregnancy. There is as much alcohol in 5oz of wine as there is in 12oz of beer or 1.5oz of liquor. Why risk it?
