finally quitting

I know ill be judged. But throughout my pregnancy I continued to smoke marijuana. But as of about 2 weeks ago I am finally quitting and it honestly hasn't been as hard as I thought. I quit mainly because in NY if your baby is born with marijuana in its system they involve child protective services. But also because I've felt guilty for not giving it up. My baby is growing great. Which im thankful for. But I am worried about him developing behavior issues. Is anyone else in the same boat?

I used to smoke weed regularly I haven't touched it in years but it was out of my system in a month I'm guessing it should only take that long for it to be out of urs and ur baby :)

With my first daughter I did a lot of research and never found anything...i got shotgunsz...not boasting or anything but it was jus me...shesz about to be three now and shes developing wonderfully...very smart...very energetic...im not saying that using it is a good thing cause its not just stating my situation. With this pregnancy I also get shotguns...they help with my nausea...its amazing that you stopped...no matter tha reason...it was a responsible decision.congratsz on that.

I have never heard of it actually causes problems for a baby. Ive known a few people born from heavy weed smokers and they are fine! My husband included. I weened down and quit at 20 weeks with my first, and i weened down and quit at 16 weeks with this one.  Hopefully it gets out of your babys system in time. I had a friend who had to deal with cps for  few weeks after her baby was born, she said it was a big pain and they were always checking her house and checking in on her/ drug testing her. Good luck!

I know it is, or my doc wouldn't have said to quit 30 days before, I'm giving it over double that! My best friend also smoked throughout and quit later than I did. Her baby is happy and healthy, and tested clean. I am proud of my self. I do crave it, but I know what I gotta do.

See! My husband always made straight A's through out school and hardly ever studied. He's really smart and a hard worker, etc. I'm more than sure that your little one will be just fine. And i think that 8 weeks is plenty of time for it to leave the baby's system. Especially if you drink alot of extra water. =)

Anm89 I was a weed baby, my mom never quit, back then they didn't drug test babies. And I came out just fine too. No behavior or developmental issues. I was a healthy bright active and I was actually ahead of kids my age in motor skills.

My mother in law smoked marijuana heavily and daily with my husband and his brother. They are 25+yrs and completely fine. My husbands brother had speech delay until he was 4, but they never proved what caused it. I am proud of you for quitting! I quit a few weeks before I got pregnant, but it's still hard sometimes. Especially when I'm hurting. That was my main reason for smoking. I'm 27 weeks now and I'd love to light up lol, but the thought of it just makes me sick. I don't want my little baby around it either. I can't wait to get her out and get a baby sitter so I can smoke again! Lol! I'm sure your baby will be more than fine hun, no worries! And don't listen to these judgmental wackjobs!

It was so hard, everyone I associate with smokes. And I've isolated my self in order to quit.

Congratulations in quitting! Very proud of you no matter how long it took. Now your baby won't be susceptible to the dangers in secondhand smoke when is does arrive. Good luck with staying clean.

Hope so. I can't say I can relate I don't smoke weed and I quit smoking cigarettes as soon as I found out I was pregnant. The risks just scared me and I have two other sons that had some breathing problems when they were born so i don't take any chances

I was drug tested at my first blood work, my doc knows. They recommended that I quit at least 30 days before my due date, and I'm giving it almost 80. I think it'll be ok. I hope.

I see you have 8 weeks to go, I'm not sure how long it will be detectable in the placenta but you are still risking that CPS may get involved especially if your dr didn't know about you doing it throughout the pregnancy. I give you props for finally quitting but you should have quit way before these last two weeks. Really hope baby is okay
