You could try a nipple shield and see if she latches on to that and is able to suck better. I have inverted nipples and have to use a nipple shield so baby can latch on. My daughter is 4 days old and we are doing great with the nipple shield. We are down to only using it on one side. I would suggest getting one and trying it. Good luck
Offer the breast first then 10mins later offer the formula to top her up. She will throw up the formula because she is full and that's ok. Their little stomachs can't hold as much as they're hunger thinks they can. If you want to keep breastfeeding always offer the boob first otherwise your supply will drop. Best of luck new mumma!
Burp her every 2 oz! And remember her tummy is super sensitive so forumla will be rough on it. My daughter couldn't get enough from the boob..later on I found out I had a infection in my milk duct whiched caused me to stop producing milk. What forumla are you feeding?
Thank u ladies currently pumping right now to help get milk started
She could be allergic to the formula you're giving her as well.
My daughter was put on similac at the hospital and she always threw it up. We switched her to enfamil prosobee and she holds it down. Your baby could have an allergy to milk and may need to be put on a soy milk. It's lighter on the tummy
With formula burp every 1oz. That's what I did. My baby came out eating a 2oz bottle because his blood sugar was low. I had to supplement too. I agree the breast milk is easier on them than the formula.
Sounds like she rooting to possibly suckle. My first wanted to stay attatched to me but then I introduced the binky and all was fine. I introduced the binky with this one once her latch was good and she was feeding every 2 hours.
Aww,I remember going through it. Well let me tell you I though the baby wasn't getting enough but in reality there tummy is so little a size of a marble so all they need the first weeks is that colustrum our bodies make especially for our newborn its completely normal to produce little in the beginning. Your baby will learn just stay calm and don't stress keep offering. Your baby might get frustrated more because they feel how you feel. I know it might be stressing but little by little you'll guys get the hang of it. When my baby was born I was so worried because he didn't eat the first hours but he was okay he was just into this new world where they have to settle in . but don't give up it gets better even though there will be times were baby will breastfeed for hours during growth spurts. Its a beautiful bonding experience. But breast milk is way easier to digest than formula. When I breastfed it was hard for my son to burp but it was okay aslong as he burped here and there. Stay positive :)
Babies will nurse for hours at a time. It doesn't mean shes not getting enough its natures way of making your milk come in. It is completely normal. Babies dont need Much at all. Dont give her anymore formula
Breastfeeding is easier for the baby to digest and you have to remember that a newborn's little stomach is only so big. They told me in my breastfeeding class that the babies stomach is a like a little marble. It's going to be okay just keep trying
Thanks ladies :) I just feel bad because she eats then looks for it like rooting alot I try giving it to her she has my nipple in right then spits it out or screams bloody murder. Ill just keep trying to breastfeed
The formula could be too rich for her. Try a supplemental formula or a sensitive one. Also, she could be getting to full. Newborns dont really have to ability to say no to food if they are full, their little bellies are about the size of a walnut right now and dont need much to become full, they just need to be fed more often.
She is probably getting enough and doesnt need topped off with formula and thats why she is spitting it all back up. If she is content after a feeding from you I would go without and see how that goes. My first daughter was lazy as well and wouldnt even eat from me at all and did fine once my milk came in.
See hun breast milk is much easier to digest and formula not so... So it is important to burp the baby after formula feed and yh wait just couple minutes to all go down and than try burp her. As well breastfeed babys can control how much they eat so they not gonna drink more than they need and with formula they just cant control so usually they drink more than they need and ending up throwing up... Try giving her not to much and see if it will make any difference x good luck x
Its all pretty normal. They eat much the first few days until milk comes in. Keep trying to breast feed. Try to hold of on milk and get her latched so your milk comes in. It gets better. The sad part is one the baby figured it out in about day 3 is when your nipples start to hurt and bleed. Use cream now. Good luck and don't forget to call in our go in if need help. I waited too long to ask for help.
Are you burping her often? At first, I always burp after every ounce baby drinks.
