On average, how many days after fetal death does the body miscarry?

I had a miscarriage recently at 10wks 1 day. I went to the ER and the ultrasound measured the fetus at 9wks 5days, which means i miscarried three days after fetal death. I ended up expelling everything that night so no D&C is needed. My cousin recently had a miscarriage at 10wks and her fetus measured at 8wks 4 days when she was miscarrying so I know the time between fetal death and miscarriage can vary. I'm just curious what the most common time frame is. Thank you.

Oh, that's a sad question.  I am very sorry about your loss. I don't think there is a 'most common' time during the first trimester but the first trimester (13 weeks and under) is when the vast majority of miscarriages happen.  My doctor always said if you make it past week 13, you would most likely not have a miscarriage.  1 in 4 pregnancies ends in miscarriage so it is sadly pretty common.  Hang in there.  Again, so sorry for your loss.
